Directions: Read20-30 minutes every night! Choose 3 activities to complete by creating a tic-tac-toe
and passing through the center. You have all week and must turn in work evidence by Friday morning.
Homework should be completed in red homework folder. Writing should be in complete sentences.
If you work in Istation, I will monitor. You may substitute activities with lessons on Istation.

Frayer Model Example Model can be drawn in homework folder

Plot - Plot is a literary term used to describe the events that make up a story or
the main part of a story.
Text- story, book, or article
Theme-The theme in a story is its underlying message, or 'big idea.'
(ex: friendship, courage, family)
Text Evidence- words and inferences from text to support your claim.
Sentence Stems for Text Evidence:
On page ____, it said -- The author wrote ----. In the text it said
I inferred that because ----- From what I read, I know .
Cause and Effect- Cause is why it happened or what made it happen. Effect
what happened because of something else.
(It rained therefor the flowers bloomed. Rain is the cause effect flowers bloomed)
Key words to look for so, therefore, since, cause, in order to, lead to
Problem and Solution-The problems is the challenge or obstacle that the
characters faced in the story. Solution is how they solved the problem.
Summary- In sequence a brief retell of the characters, setting, problem and
solution of the text.
