WHERE BEST++ PROGRAMS ARE

WRITTEN

One of the outstanding features of the Carrier Comfort

Network is BEST++, a user-friendly, HVAC-oriented,
custom programming language based on an earlier
language called BEST. BEST++ was developed by
Carrier Corporation to support the Comfort Controller.

HOW BEST++ PROGRAMS ARE VIEWED

BEST++ programs are written and stored on the hard

disk of the PC-based CCN user interface, and then sent
to a specific Comfort Controller.

BEST++ programs can be viewed on the PC-based CCN

user interface.

WHERE BEST++ EXECUTES

++

PURPOSE OF BEST

BEST++ provides a means to supplement or enhance

the standard control algorithms resident in the Comfort
Controller. The algorithms provide the type of control
that is necessary for typical applications and, when an
application has unique requirements, you can use
BEST++ to customize the algorithms to meet those
unique control requirements.

Programs run in the Comfort Controller even if the

PC-based CCN user interface is turned off.
Each BEST++ program runs independently, yet simultaneously with every other BEST++ program, and has
instantaneous access to the results generated by any
other BEST++ program in the same Comfort Controller.

ACCESS TO PIC VARIABLES

BEST++ allows you to write simple or sophisticated
programs.

BEST++ can access available data in other system

elements such as PICs.

HOW BEST++ PROGRAMS ARE WRITTEN

FEATURES
BEST++ programs are written as a sequence of simple
control routines. All devices, functions, and commands
are called out by English language names. No codes or
complicated addressing schemes are required. Programs can be written using either customary U.S. or
metric values.
A menu-driven display assists you in all aspects of
programming:

Creating and saving a program

Modifying or deleting a program
Duplicating a program
Printing a program
Downline loading a program from the Carrier PCbased CCN user interface (such as Network Service
Tool, Building Supervisor, ComfortWORKS, or
ComfortVIEW) to a Comfort Controller
Upline loading a program from a Comfort Controller to
the PC-based CCN user interface

Multi-tasking
Quick access to programs and fast run time
Full complement of math, logic, and time functions
Full-function editor for simplified program entry
Capabilities for debugging and syntax checking
Dynamic memory assignmentall unused memory
in the Comfort Controller is available for BEST++
