Academic Vocabulary and Definitions. Students will need


know the spelling and be able to match the word to the
correct definition.
1. Embryo the baby plant
2. Dispersal how seeds are scattered
3. Noun names a person/animal, place, thing, or idea
4. Verb action words tell what the noun is doing
5. Subject tells who or what the sentence is about
6. Predicate tells what the subject is doing or has done
7. Germinate when the embryo starts to grow and the
seed coat breaks open.
8. Egg the first stage in an animals life cycle
9. Pupa the stage of an insects life cycle between the
larva and the adult stages.
10. Chrysalis the hard-shelled pupa of a moth or
butterfly

What Were Learning

Reading: Review refer to parts of stories, dramas, and poems when writing
or speaking about a text, using terms such as chapter, scene, and stanza;
describe how each successive part builds on earlier sections
Social Studies: Locate the prime meridian, equator, International Date Line,
and lines of latitude and longitude on maps and globes
Math: 0, 5, and 10 facts, Multiplication/division, word problems,
quadrilaterals
Science: Plant life- life cycle of a bean
