(T-01).
Absorber column is maintained at a pressure of 26 Kg/cm2 (g). Feed gas is contacted with
Lean MEA solvent cascading from Tray 3. MEA solvent
after absorbing CO
2 present in the Feed gas gets collected at the bottom drum in the
Absorber Column as Rich MEA Solvent. Heat of absorption raises the temperature of the
MEA solvent from 37.4 Deg C to 86.5 Deg C.
The top two trays of the Absorber column is Wash Section in which continuous flow of
steam condensate of 1.3 m3 /hr is maintained by using Absorber Wash Water Pump (P-01).
Steam condensate collected in the trough of Tray 2 is fed to Reflux Drum (D-02)
maintaining steam condensate level within wash section. Wash water (steam condensate)
circulation removes any solvent entrained in the product gas.

2.3 Stripper Section
Stripper Section consists of the following equipments,
Flash Drum (D-01)
Stripper Column (T-02)
Reflux Drum (D-02)
Lean Solvent Exchanger 1 (E-01)
Stripper Overhead Condenser (E-04)
Steam Reboiler (E-05)
Hot Oil Reboiler (E-06)
Rich Solvent from Absorber flashes into the Flash Drum (D-01) partly stripping off CO
2 present. Flash Drum is maintained at a pressure of 0.72 Kg/cm2 (g).
Rich Solvent from the bottom of the Flash Drum after getting preheated by Lean Solvent
from the Stripper Bottom in Lean Solvent Exchanger (E-01) enters Stripper Column above
Tray 3. Stripper is maintained at a pressure of 0.63 Kg/cm2 (g).
Similar to Absorber column, top two trays are wash section of Stripper Column. Wash
section is fed with Reflux Drum (D-02) Bottom Liquid.
Rich Solvent as it cascades down within the Stripper Column countercurrent to a
flow of rising steam and carbon dioxide, strips off the CO 2 from the solvent. The solvent
gets progressively hotter, releasing CO 2, as it continues flowing down the column. The
liquid accumulates in a chimney tray sump and circulates through the stripper reboilers (E05 & E-06).
The stripper reboilers E-05 & E-06 provide the heat required for generating steam. In
steam Reboiler (E-05), steam is used as the heating medium and in Hot Oil Reboiler (E06), Hot Oil is the heating source. In stripper reboilers, steam is generated and CO
liberated along with it. CO 2 and steam vapors return back to the stripper, providing vapor
stripping action required to regenerate the MEA solution.
2 is
The liquid in the reboiler overflows to the bottom of the stripper. Temperature of the bottom liquid in
Stripper is maintained at 121.0 Deg C at which the concentration of lean amine is maintained. By
controlling the boiling point of the solution, the concentration of the lean solvent is controlled.
Lean solvent from the bottom of the Stripper is pumped to Absorber by Lean Solvent
Pumps.
Vapors along with CO 2 exits the top of Stripper Column and combines with exit
vapors from Flash Drum. These vapors are then condensed in Stripper Overhead
Condenser (E-04), which are then separated from CO
