OPERATION
1.About Touchmonitor Adjustments

Your touchmonitor will unlikely require adjustment. Variations in video output and
application may require adjustments to your touchmonitor to optimize the quality
of the display.
For best performance, your touchmonitor should be operating in native resolution,
that is 1024x768 at 60k-75 Hz. Use the Display control panel in Windows to
choose 1024x768 resolution.
Operating in other resolutions will degrade video performance. For further
information, please refer to page 21 .
All adjustments you make to the controls are automatically memorized. This
feature saves you from having to reset your choices every time you unplug or
power your touchmonitor off and on. If there is a power failure, your touchmonitor
settings will not default to the factory specifications.

NATIVE RESOLUTION
The native resolution of a monitor is the resolution level at which the LCD panel is
designed to perform best. For the Elo LCD touchmonitor, the native resolution is
1024 x 768 for the 15 inch size. In almost all cases, screen images look best when
viewed at their native resolution. You can lower the resolution setting of a monitor
but not increase it.
Input Video

800x600 (SVGA)
1024x768 (XGA)

15" LCD
Transforms input format to 1024x768
Transforms input format to 1024x768
Displays in Native Resolution

The native resolution of an LCD is the actual number of pixels horizontally in the
LCD by the number of pixels vertically in the LCD. LCD resolution is usually
represented by the following symbols:
VGA
SVGA
XGA

640x480
800x600
1024x768

As an example, a SVGA resolution LCD panel has 800 pixels horizontally by 600
pixels vertically. Input video is also represented by the same terms. XGA input video
has a format of 1024 pixels horizontally by 768 pixels vertically.
When the input pixels contained in the video input format match the native
resolution of the panel, there is a one to one correspondence of mapping of input
video pixels to LCD pixels. As an example, the pixel in column 45 and row 26 of the
input video is in column 45 and row 26 of the LCD. For the case when the input
video is at a lower or higher resolution than the native resolution of the LCD, the
direct correspondence between the video pixels and the LCD pixels is lost. The LCD
controller can compute the correspondence between video pixels and LCD pixels
using algorithms contained on its controller. The accuracy of the algorithms
determines the fidelity of conversion of video pixels to LCD pixels. Poor fidelity
conversion can result in artifacts in the LCD displayed image such as varying width
characters.

7.Preset Modes
To reduce the need for adjustment for different modes, the monitor has default
setting modes that are most commonly used as given in the table below. If any of
these display modes are detected, the monitor automatically adjusts the picture
size and centering. When none of the mode is matched, the user can store their
preferred modes in the user modes. The monitor is capable of storing up to 9 user
modes. The only condition to store as a user mode is the new display information
must have 1 KHz difference for horizontal frequency or 1 Hz for vertical
frequency or the sync signal polarities are different from the default modes.

1.Power supply (Circuit diagrams MAIN PWB)

1.1 Line filter consists of C701,C704,T701,C705,C706. It eliminates high
frequency interference to meet EMIs requirement.
1.2 Rec & Filter:
Bridge diode D701 converts AC source into pulsed DC. This pulsed DC is
smoothed and filtered by C707.
R702 is an NTC (negative thermal coefficient) resistor, used to reduce inrush
current to be within safe range.
1.3 Power transformer:
T702 converts energy for square wave from power source C707 to secondary
side to generate +12V.
1.4 Output:
The square wave from T702 is rectified by D801, then filtered by C804,C805
to generate +12V and C802,C807 can reduce hang frequency noise.
1.4.1 A 5V power supply for logic and EPROM is generated from the +12V
power source.
1.4.2 I805:5-terminal regulator
A 1.8V & 3.3V power supply for interface board U401 analog is
generated from the 5V source, Q401,Q402 ON/OFF control for LCD
module.
ON/OFF control is performed for power ON/OFF and also for the
power saving sequence.
1.5 Driver:
Q701 drive T702 from PWM control of I701 for power converted.
1.6 FB:
Negative feedback CKT consists of photo coupler I702 and adjustable
regulator I802. It can maintain output voltages +12V at a stable level.
1.7 PWM:
1.7.1 Start: When power is turned on, D701 conducts due to bias from C707
and R704,R705. C709 is charged a 16 volt and a starting current about
30uA to pin 7 of I701. I701 starts to oscillate and outputs a pulse train
through pin 8 to drive Q701.
1.7.2 OPP: When Q701 turns on, C707 supplies a linearly increasing triangle
current through the primary inductance of T702 to the driver Q701,
once the peak value of this current multiplied by R711 exceeds1 volt,
pulse train will be shut down immediately to protect Q701, T702 from
being burned out.
1.7.3 Regulation: If output voltage +12V goes up, the R terminal of I802 gets
more bias, accordingly photo transistor and photo diode flows more
current. The voltage of pin 2 goes up too , making the pulse width of
pin 8 to become narrower. So the output voltage +12V will be pulled
down to a stable value.
1.7.4 OVP: If +12V goes up too much, the induced voltage on pin 5 of T702
becomes large also. Suppose that it is over 18 volts, the Pin7 will be
clamp to 18 volts by R708 (Z near Diode 18V).
1.7.5 SCP: If output terminal is short to ground, photo transistor does not
conduct. Then oscillation of I701 is stop, shutting Q701 off
immediately.

7.1 Detection of power switch status

The U301 identifies the ON status of the two power supplies. The
identification is made when the power supply is turned off. For example, if
the power supply is turned off with the POWER switch, the POWER switch
must be turned on when activating the power supply again. If the power
supply is turned on by pulling out the power cord, then this power supply can
be turned on by connecting the power cord, without pressing the POWER
switch.
7.2 Display mode identification
7.2.1 Functions
(1) Display mode identification
The display mode of input signal is identified based on Table
1,and according to the frequency and polarity (HPOL, VPOL) of
horizontal or vertical sync signal, presence of the horizontal or
vertical sync signal, and the discrimination signal
(HSYNC_DETECT, VSYNC_DETECT).
When the mode has been identified through the measurement of
horizontal and vertical frequencies, the total number of lines is
determined with a formula of "Horizontal frequency / Vertical
frequency = Total number of lines. Final identification can be
made by examining the coincidence of the obtained figure with
the number of lines for the mode identified from the frequency.
When the detected frequency if the sync signal has changed, the
total number of lines should be counted even through it is
register identified frequency in the same mode. Then, it is
necessary to examine whether the preset value for the vertical
display position has exceeded the total number of lines. If
exceeded, a maximum value should be set up, which does not
exceed the vertical display position.
(2) Out-of range
This out-of-range mode is assumed when the frequency of the
horizontal / Vertical signal is as specified below.
Vertical frequency : Below 50Hz or above 75Hz.
Horizontal frequency : Below 31 KHz or above 60KHz.
(3) Power save mode
The power save mode is assumed when the horizontal / Vertical
signals are as specified below.
If there is no horizontal sync signal input.
If there is no vertical sync signal input.
If the horizontal sync signal is outside the measuring range of
gm2621.
If the vertical sync signal is outside the measuring range of
gm2621.

This unit operates on an output voltage of 12V from power source.
8.1 Control IC : IC1 (FP5001)
8.1.1 OSC : When IC1 enabled, the operating frequency is determined by R9.
8.1.2 DTC: Dead-time control . DTC provides a means of limiting the
output-switch duty cycle to a value less than 100%, which is critical for
boost and flyback converter. It generates a dead-time reference voltage
VDT by R8.
8.1.3 UVLP: The under voltage-lockout circuit turns the output transistor off
and resets the SCP latch whenever the supply voltage drops too low.
8.1.4 SCP : Short-circuit protection, which turns the power switch off to
prevent damage when the converter output is shorted. SCP time period
is decided by R7 and C7.
8.2 Feedback : D4/C12/R5 sense the lamp current for negative feedback and
regulation. The voltage on Pin4 of IC1 will be 1V.
