Assignment Company ABC Inc.

Background
Company ABC Inc is a large well-established company that service oil wells all over
Canada. Most of ABC employees are employed in the province of Ontario. ABC has been in
existence for over 35 years and has more than 75 employees.
The companys financial position varies with the price of oil. As oil prices rise, oil
companies become increasingly active and in turn require the services of ABC. Conversely,
activity slows as oil prices drop.
ABC has managed to be successful by staying on the cutting edge of technology. ABC
prides itself in being state of the art in processes and software relevant to its industry. This
has helped it to stave off competition from both inside and outside of Canada.
PART A (30 MARKS)
Company ABC has recently opened a surf shop in Costa Rica (Live to Surf). The
company recently began taking orders from the internet and has no idea how to track the
progress of that new business. You decide to put together a database to help Live to Surf.
Ralph of Live to Surf gives you two lists of his customers in Excel. As well, you get one
list of the products he sells, and two lists of some recent orders, with different
information on each list. These lists were provided in text files. The orders are split in 2
lists: one contains the simple information about each order (ex. order ID, information on
the buyer and shipping information). The other one lists all items purchased in each order,
number of units and discount.
Create a Microsoft Access database with these lists. Your database has to include the
following forms (do not forget the name of the company and a logo for the company):

A form to see the information on each customer.

A form to see the information on each order, buyer information (customer address
and shipping address), all products bought and the number of units, discount, total
price for each product, cost of shipment, and total price for the order.

Make sure your table design is appropriate, i.e. that each field has the correct data type,
and that your calculations are accurate.
PART B (20 MARKS)
Your database should also be able to produce an invoice for each customer using a report.
The same information found on the order form should be displayed on the invoice.
Assume sales taxes are included in all prices. Shipping cost is charged only once per
order. (One invoice per page).
