Weekly Bell Ringers


Article of the Week
Mondays
1. Pick up the article from the podium as you come in the door.
2. When the tardy bell rings, you will have 5 minutes to read the article.
Please annotate the article as you read.
a. Annotation: An annotation is a note, comment, or concise statement
of the key idea(s) in a text or a portion of a text.

3. If you do not finish reading and annotating the article in the 5 minutes given,
you will need to finish doing so as homework.

Tuesdays
1. When you enter the classroom, two questions about the article will be
on the board.
2. When the tardy bell rings, you will have 5 minutes to answer the
questions on notebook paper. Please answer using complete
sentences.
Wednesdays
One scheduled student (see attached schedule) will share with the class their
3 favorite quotes/passages from the article and explain why those are their
favorites. This should presentation should be no more than 3 minutes long.
Thursdays
When the tardy bell rings, you will have 5 minutes to free write about the
article, a topic of the article, and/or a theme of the article on notebook paper.
Please write using complete sentences.
Fridays
One scheduled student (see attached schedule) will present a T-Chart to the
class. The T-Chart should contain two columns: 1) Key Points from the
Article 2) Doesnt Say Things the article leaves out due to possible bias.
