The newest lady to join the Napa Valley Yacht Club fleet is Mark
Cordeiro’s elegant 55’ Sea Ray Sundancer luxury sport yacht,
“Rhiannon”. She sports twin 660 hp Caterpillar diesel engines, two
luxurious staterooms, and a cockpit that enters into a full size flying
bridge. Mark has been an avid boater for years and a NVYC member
since 1992. His parents, Bob & Gloria Cordeiro, members since 1993,
are frequent guests aboard his boat when he cruises with the club.
Congratulations, Mark. She is just beautiful!

have been asked on more than one
occasion about our financial status.
Steve Vartan and all of the past treas-
urers have run a tight ship and kept us in
the black. It takes $35,000 annually to
keep our club doors open and operating.
Where does that money go and where does
it come from? Expenses include our lease,
taxes, insurance, utilities, supplies, janitor-
ial, alarm company, legal, decorating,
newsletter printing and postage, etc. Our
main source of income is membership,
about $21,000 per year. The rest must be
made up from Friday Night Dinners, par-
ties, bar, dock fees, building fund, tips,
advertising in the newsletter and merchan-
dise. We have $107,000 in the bank so we
are very healthy.
In addition to our annual operating
expenses, the board of directors approves
various capital improvements that are
funded from our savings. This year, spe-
cial projects include the rewire of the
dock, bathrooms, big screen TV, security,
handicap parking, and the galley which
total approximately $36,000.
The remodel is moving right along. Bill
Newton & Bob Weeks installed a new
tankless water heater. Chris Fultz & Al
Mueller finished the plumbing and put in
a new floor and wall in the restrooms.
Electrical is being finished now. We will
more than likely be over our $20,000
budget. Let’s celebrate our newly remod-
eled clubhouse on July 4th with an old
fashioned Family Days party. (See insert).
Future activities are being planned to
host a small boat regatta and a member-
ship drive.
I am pleased to appoint Captain Ken
Graham as our Safety Training Officer.
Ken will hold monthly meetings on sea-
manship topics that are both fun and in-
formative. No one is more qualified.

By Popular Request: Pat Hildreth’s Cinco de Mayo Recipes

Turkey Enchilada Spoon Bread Casserole
Casserole Over high heat, combine 1 Pkg “Jiffy” Corn Muffin Mix
1½ lb ground turkey turkey, onion, garlic, ½ C margarine or butter, melted
½ C chopped onion cumin in oil until crumbly 1 8 oz. can whole kernel corn, drained
1 T minced garlic and stir in 1 C sauce. Cut 1 8 oz. can cream style corn
½ t ground cumin tortillas in half, and layer 1 C sour cream
1 t salad oil in casserole, alternating 2 eggs.
1 can red enchilada with meat, cheese and
sauce -29 oz sauce. Top with sauce and Pour margarine or butter into 1½ qt casserole. Blend in
1 T sea salt cheese. Bake in 425° oven corn. In separate bowl, beat eggs, add muffin mix and sour
12 corn tortillas 20 minutes. Sprinkle with cream and stir into casserole. Blend thoroughly. Bake 35 -
1 C shredded jack cheese cilantro. (6-8 servings) 45 minutes at 375° or until center is firm. (6-8 servings)
