Method Statement of Helios Intercom Installation

PART 1 GENERAL
REQUIREMENTS
This Specification describes the product and execution requirements related to furnishing and installing the
audio/video intercom system as shown on the Drawings and specified herein.
SCOPE OF WORK
A. It is the intent of this Specification to spell out the minimum acceptable requirements for the audio/video
intercom system to be provided for this project.
B. Contractor shall provide and install a complete audio/video intercom system, providing all hardware,
software, brackets, and equipment as shown on the Drawings or required for a complete functional system.
C. The requirements of this project consist of two (2) systems, which shall control access to
two (2) entry locations. These locations shall have a door access unit which shall contain
a video component, an audio component, and card access reader unit.
D. The "outside" unit shall be surface mounted, on 1 3/4 inch mullion if possible.
E. The inside station shall be hands free and pushbutton for activating the door strike or magnetic door lock.
F. The system shall have a processing unit for programming a variety of Owner desired door functions.
G. As a minimum, each door shall be serviceable from two (2) locations. This will require either a master
slave or master master setup.

MOUNTING HEIGHT/LOCATION
A. The outside unit shall be mounted as per standards.
B. The master and slave units shall be suitable for location on a desk surface.

PRODUCTS
ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURER
A. 2N Helios Vario has been approved for this project.

CABLING
A. No cabling shall be run in open visible areas. Cable shall be either in conduit or wire basket cable tray.
Use of "J" hooks routed above lay-in ceiling to basket tray is acceptable.
B. Conduits from door position switch, electric door lock and Helios Verso station location at door shall be
3/4 inch. Install in mullion or door frame as needed to conceal and shall be coordinated with Owner's field
representative.
C. Helios headend will be connected to the touch screen in the control room located.
EXECUTION
INSTALLATION
A. Install the audio/video intercom system in the locations shown on the Drawings and as specified herein.
The system shall be installed per the manufacturer's specifications and wiring diagrams and the
manufacturers written Instructions
B. All wiring shall be in accordance with this specification and Section as per Jumeriah Group Standards
- Communications Introductory Statement."
TESTING
A. Provide a complete functional test of all components in accordance with manufacturer's
recommendations.
B. Operate system for a minimum of one (1) consecutive day with no problems before final acceptance by
Owner.
C. Refer to Section, "System Test, and Documentation."
EQUIPMENT DEMONSTRATION
A. After all system tests have been completed, schedule an instruction period with the Owner. Instruction to
be provided by manufacturer's authorized field technician.
B. Instruction shall include:
1. Location of all components of the system and explanation of their function.
2. Demonstration of equipment with extensive training on programming.
3. Maintenance and repair procedures.
4. Review of documents in Record and Information Manuals.
5. Commissioning of System.
