GENERAL SUMMARY:
The document reports about the work undertaken to calculate the stress and deformation in the
enclosure skid structure due to external loads.
Objective was to carry out the FE stress analysis and to verify the maximum deformations and stresses
in the enclosure skid. Structural calculations were performed for the enclosure skid structure
considering the effect of dead loads and imposed loads. Static stress analysis was performed on the
enclosure skid structure considering the effect of dead loads and imposed loads.
Worst loading conditions were considered for analysis. The stress output will be compared with the
material yield point value to comment on the safe operation behavior of complete unit as per BS 6399
codes and standards, code of practice for the dead and imposed loads.
The solution projected here is based on the finite element program ANSYS 11.0; the results give an
idea about von mises stress and maximum deflection.

CONCLUSION:
The maximum stress intensities during the load on the skid are reported, are based on the structural
analysis performed using finite element analysis of enclosure skid structure. From the stress plots it is
observed that the stress generated in the enclosure skid structure are well within the allowable stress
limits as per BS 6399 codes and standards, code of practice for the dead and imposed loads. Stresses in
the entire enclosure skid structure are less than materials yield strength 250 MPa. The safety factor in
the entire structure is also within the limits. The deformation is also found to be well within the limits.
Hence the enclosure skid structure is safe against the given loading condition.
