is standing at the bottom of the cliff, looking up at Becky. If Terrell is 20 meters away from
becky, how far away from the cliff is Terrell standing?

2. Three baseball players are playing catch. Josie is directly south of Ning and directly west of
Eddie. Josie and Eddie are 8 meters apart and Eddie and Ning are 10 meters apart. How far
apart are Josie and Ning?

3. A mouse has made holes in opposite corners of a rectangular kitchen. The width of the
kitchen is 4 meters and the distance between the mouses holes is 5 meters. What is the
length of the kitchen?

4. Ron looks around at an assembly. He notices his younger sister to his right and his older
brother 12 meters ahead of him. If Rons brother and sister are 15 meters apart, how far
apart are Ron and his younger sister?

5. Diego takes a sheet of paper and cuts from one corner to the opposite corner, making two
triangles. If the piece of paper is 5 inches long and 12 inches wide, how long is the diagonal
cut that Diego made?

6. Brad is in a hot air balloon that has just taken off and is now floating 8 meters above its
launching point. Malia is standing on the ground, 15 meters away from the launching point.
How far apart are Brad and Malia?

7. In Middletown, the library is 12 kilometers due south of the courthouse and 16 kilometers
due west of the community swimming pool. What is the distance between the courthouse
and the community swimming pool?

8. Lacey is replacing a door that is 84 inches tall and measures 91 inches across the diagonal.
What is the width of the door?

side of the building. To reach the window, how far away from the building should Ellie place

14. To get from point A to point B you must avoid walking through a pond. To avoid the pond,
you must walk 34 meters south and 41 meters east. To the nearest meter, how many
meters would be saved if it were possible to walk through the pond?

15. Seth made a small rectangular table for his workroom. The sides of the table are 36" and
18". If the diagonal of the table measures 43", is the table square? A table which is
"square" has right angles at the corners.

16. Oscar's dog house is shaped like a tent. The slanted sides are both 5 feet long and the
bottom of the house is 6 feet across. What is the height of his dog house, in feet, at its
