UDOs (User Defined Objects)

1. What are UDOs

UDOs are web objects EnterpriseOne users create using the
EnterpriseOne web interface. Users can create UDOs for their
own use, view ones other employees have created, or share ones
so others can view and use them. Users' ability to perform any of
these tasks depends on the permissions they and others have
been granted by their administrator.
If users have the ability to share UDOs, the Request to Publish
icon displays, which they click to submit the UDO for your
approval or rejection. You approve or reject UDOs using the Work
with User Defined Objects application (P98220U).
To personalize the enterpriseone user experiences, user can
create items such as custom grid formats, custom queries,
watchlists, etc...

2. Understanding User Permissions

Users who have the appropriate permissions may request to share
UDOs with other users who also have appropriate permissions. To do
so, they click the Request to Publish button on the UDO interface. The
UDO is shared with other users once you have approved it. The Work
with User Defined Objects application enables you to approve
or reject the UDO.

3. Understanding UDO Statuses

The following list contains the UDOs status you see in the Work with User
Defined Objects application, and the user action that assigned that status:

Editing - The user has reserved this UDO after clicking Request to
Publish.

Pending Approval - The user has clicked Request to Publish.

Pending Promote - You have requested to promote the UDO in OMW.

Shared - You have approved the UDO.

Rework - You have rejected the UDO.

Pending Delete - You have deleted the UDO but it has not yet been
removed from the system.

4. Managing Security for User Defined Objects

Security for user defined objects:
EnterpriseOne enables users to create user defined objects (UDOs) using the
following features:

Grid Format Manager

Query Manager

Composite Application Framework Manager

E1Page Manager (for creating and editing EnterpriseOne Pages)

One View Watchlist Manager

Page Composer (Release 9.2.0.2)

Image Manager (Release 9.2.0.2)

One View Reports Manager

5. UDOs security types

Feature:
UDO Feature security activates or deactivates each UDO feature globally in
the EnterpriseOne system. UDO features are secure by default; they are not
available in EnterpriseOne until you activate them in the "Revise Feature
Enablement" form in the EnterpriseOne Security Workbench.

Action:
UDO Action security determines the actions users can perform with a
particular UDO feature. UDO action security is set up by UDO feature for a
user, role, or *PUBLIC (all users). Action security options include:

Create. Authorize users to create UDOs for their own personal use.

Create and Publish. Authorize users to create and share personal UDOs with
other users.

Create, Publish, and Modify. Includes the preceding permissions plus the
ability to modify UDOs created by other users.

View:
UDO View security authorizes access to shared UDOs. You can apply UDO view security to each
individual shared UDO for a user, role, or *PUBLIC. Or you can apply UDO view security to all
shared UDOs of a particular UDO type.
To enable other users to view or work with published UDO:
Approver must approve the UDO for sharing.
An administrator has to set up UDO View security to determine which users can access the
shared UDO

Two ways to set up UDO view security:

1. Security Workbench
2. Work with user defined objects

Content (Composite Page and Application Framework UDOs only) (Release

9.2.0.2):
UDO Content security applies to Composite Page and Composite Application Framework UDOs. In
addition to setting up view security for Composite Page and Composite Application Framework
UDOs, you must also set up content security to authorize users to view or work with the contents of
a Composite Page and Composite Application Framework UDO.

How to share UDOs:

When a user has permission to "Create and Publish" UDOs, the user can click the Request to
Publish button in the UDO feature, which submits the UDO to the User Defined Object Management
(P98220U) application. A designated user or system administrator uses P98220U to review UDOs
before approving them. When approved, the status of the UDO changes to "Shared," at which point
an administrator can set up UDO view security to grant users access to the UDO if a view security
record does not already exist for UDOs of a particular type.
