ACM mode upgrade options: DisabledEnabled
To upgrade FE, 640P and GbE systems, a license code (string) must be uploaded to the IDU using an
external application (FlexibleIP). Capacity license is based on MUX card serial number (as displayed in
CeraView).
To upgrade the new GbE (IP-MAX2) systems, a license file must be downloaded to the IDC using the
software download mechanism. Capacity license is based on MUX card serial number (as displayed in
CeraView). ACM mode license is based on MODEM card serial number (as displayed in CeraView).
License codes and license files are provided by support@ceragon.com using the Capacity Upgrade
License Request (Rev1.1) form (see link below).

Capacity License Upgrade Procedure

Capacity Upgrade using the FlexibleIP Application

Applicable for FE, 640P, and GbE systems (but not for IP-MAX2).
To upgrade your system to a higher capacity, make sure you have the following:
New license code (string)
Upgrade procedure
FlexibleIP software version 0.0.0.10 (in a zip file)
The FlexibleIP application (and the license request form) can be downloaded from Ceragon's Technical
Support FTP site (browse to Tech Support FibeAir Family Tech Notes Capacity License
Upgrade):
http://ftp1.ceragon.com/remote_access.php?UID=tech@a.com&Key=44E9q1OkcNqC2&FACE=en&Fri
=10

Note that the FlexibleIP application runs only on a Windows OS.

Upgrade Procedure:
1.

Extract the FlexibleIP.zip file to a folder on your PC.

2.

Power on the IDU.

3.

Connect your PC to the Ethernet management port of the IDC (for direct connection, use an
Ethernet crossover cable).
Note: Connecting to the system from a remote site is possible, but may not work due to Firewall
configurations.

4.

Launch the FlexibleIP application.

5.

Enter the IDC IP address and click Connect.

Capacity License Upgrade Procedure

6.

Select the drawer (IDM) you want to upgrade first (left or right) and enter the MUX Serial
Number and the Max Bit Rate (Mbps), as they appear in your upgrade license request (see
options below). Then enter the License Key.
Note: The License Key is case-sensitive. Make sure no spaces are added after the key.

7.

Click Update.

8.

Reboot the IDM and verify the max bit rate using CeraView.

9.

Restart the application if you want to upgrade the other drawer or another unit.

Max Bit Rate Options:

FE IDMs: 50, 100, 200 (for 150, select 200)

640P IDMs: 45 (for 28 T1s), 69 (for 32 E1s or 40 T1s), 116 (for 48 E1s), 155 (for 64 E1s or 64
T1s)

GbE IDMs: 150, 300, 400

GbE (IP-MAX2) IDMs: 100, 200, 300, 400

IP-MAX2 Capacity Upgrade using CeraView

Capacity upgrade for GigaBit IDMs (IP-MAX2) can be upgraded by downloading the license file.
Ceragon's software download mechanism is used to download the license files (max rate and ACM) to
the IDC using the same procedure as that for a standard software download (see appendix A for the
detailed software download procedure).
See Appendix B for license file examples and explanations.
To upgrade your system to a higher capacity or for ACM mode, make sure you have the following:
New license file(s)
Upgrade procedure
IP-MAX2 IDMs and IDCs with software that supports the IDMs (GbE SW package IDC5.10d4 or
above).
CeraView2.21 or later
CeraView can be downloaded from Ceragon's Technical Support FTP site (browse to Tech Support
FibeAir Family CeraView):
http://ftp1.ceragon.com/remote_access.php?UID=tech@a.com&Key=44E9q1OkcNqC2&FACE=en&Fri

Appendix B: IP-MAX2 License File Explanations

This appendix provides IP-MAX2 license file explanations and examples.
Max Bit Rate (Capacity) License
This license is used to determine the maximum capacity (bit rate) of the system.
The license file name is "B" (for "Bit Rate") and the last five digits of the MUX serial number.
For example: 400 Mbps for MUX s/n FC123456 - B23456_.s.lic.
To know the max bit rate supported by this license, open the license file using Notepad and check the
second line.

Note: You can tell which capacity license your IDM has based on the options displayed in CeraView's
Multi-Rate-Multi-Constellation window.

ACM Mode License

This license is used to allow the system to operate in Adaptive Modulation mode.
The license filename is "A" (for "ACM") and the last five digits of the MODEM serial number.
For example: ACM Adaptive mode MODEM s/n FC123456 - A23456_.s.lic.
To know if ACM Adaptive mode is supported by this license, open the license file using Notepad and
check the second line: "BR:0:0;" means ACM Adaptive mode is supported.

Capacity License Upgrade Procedure

Note: You can tell if the IDM supports ACM adaptive mode by checking if it is displayed in
CeraView's Adaptive Code Modulation window.
