COURSE COMPONENTS
The Game (25% + 25%)
- Students will play an online Business Strategy Simulation Game (http://www.bsg-online.com/)
- The game will be played two times (2 sets of 6 rounds).
- Each game will be graded separately, and will account for the 25% of the overall grade.
- Students will play the game in teams, and will get a team score for each game.
- The teams will be assigned by the instructors.
- There will be 2 practice rounds (not subject to grading), before the first game starts.
- Each week two rounds will be played: one with a Tuesday 20:00 deadline, one with a Friday 13:00 deadline.
- The results of each round will be announced immediately after the deadline.
Quizzes (2.5% + 2.5% bonus)
- There will be 2 online, open-book quizzes.
- Quizzes will take place during practice rounds of the game (in the first two weeks of the course).
- The aim of the quizzes is to make sure that the students equip themselves with the required knowledge to play the game succesfully.
- Quiz 1 takes 45 minutes, Quiz 2 takes 90 mins.
- Questions for Quiz-1 are drawn directly from the 33 page Players Guide.
- Questions for Quiz-2 are drawn from the online Help pages
Strategic Plan and the Presentation (15%)
- A Strategic Plan will be handed in before the second game starts.
- The specifics of the plan will be announced in blackboard.
- The results of the second game will be presented to the stakeholders of your company at the end of the course.
- Teams will also be held responsible of their initial strategic plans in this presentation.
- The specifics of the presentation will be announced in blackboard.
PeerWise (5%)
- PeerWise is an online learning platform that students help each other to deepen their understanding of the reading material.
- The reading material for the course consists of the 8 articles mentioned above in the course manual.
- One of the aims of PeerWise is to help students preparing for the final exam.
- Students are expected to submit multiple-choice questions and tag their questions according to PeerWise tags mentioned above in the course
manual. Students are also encouraged to answer, rate and comment on other students' questions in order to increase their total score.
- The Peerwise total score will account for the 5% of the overall grade. Participation in PeerWise is optional.
Management Development Surveys (compulsory)
- There will be 3 online management development surveys which are compulsatory to participate.
- The aim of these surveys is to provide students with feedback on their individual characteristics and team processes in line with the last three lectures
of the course.
- Each survey will take around 15-20minutes.
- Feedback on survey results will be provided to students.
Final Exam (30%)
- Final exam will be a multiple choice exam.
- Some questions from the PeerWise (or some altered versions of them) may appear on the final exam.
- Subject matter for the exam are (i) lecture slides, (ii) readings, articles, and (iii) oral information provided during the lectures.
