Greetings Students and Parents! I hope you had a safe and fun summer. We are now back in
school and little by little, step by step we are embracing a new academic year. It is a new year for all of
you, new friends, new teachers to welcome, new ways of learning, etc .,but whatever adventure is ahead
of you, embrace it. Never give up, stay positive and focused. Parents, if you see that your children are
struggling at home with their homework, you can send them to the library for support and/or let us know
so that we can do something about it.
There has been many classroom changes, teachers are leaving and new ones are coming. Having
said that, we would like to welcome Mr. James Solomon to the 8th grade team, Ms. Grace Solis to 2nd
grade and Ms. Gloria Taylor to 1st grade. We are still in dire need of hiring another teacher for 4th grade.
If you know of an amazing teacher looking for a job, please ask to speak to an administrator.
Please make sure that all students are sent to school on time. We want to have a 99% Perfect
Attendance this year! Parents, we cannot do it without your support! Students in 6-8th grade, do your
best to be here on time! Attendance is very important!
Parents, make sure that your children come to school in uniform. This does not mean that jeans
are acceptable. Jeans are only allowed during dress down days and on blue and gold days. We will call you
if your child is out of uniform. When in doubt, call the main office. Students will not be allowed to walk
around in school with hoodies so make sure that they come properly dressed as temperatures drop.
As you may have noticed, we placed tons of garbage bins all over our campus. Please keep our
school clean and graffiti free! Our school is your childs second home when they are away from home.
Dont forget to attend the Open House! You will meet your childs teacher. I want to thank the
Sawyer Community for coming together and supporting the passing of one of our teachers, Ms. Josefina
Arroyo. Our student body donated $1,415 to Ms. Arroyos family for funeral expenses. Teachers and other
staff members privately gave to the family as well. There are two important meetings this month you cannot missed...Title 1 PAC and State of the School Address. Please see calendar for details.

Saludos a padres y estudiantes! Espero hayan pasado un seguro y divertido verano. Estamos de regreso en
la escuela y poco a poco, paso a paso estamos empezando un nuevo ao acadmico. Este es un nuevo ao para
ustedes, nuevos amigos, nuevos maestros para darles la bienvienida, nuevas formas de aprendizaje, etc. pero
cualquier aventura que est delante de ustedes, acptenla. Nunca se rindan, mantnganse positivos y enfocados.
Padres, si ustedes ven que sus hijos estn batallando en la casa con sus tareas, ustedes los pueden llevar a la biblioteca para recibir ayuda y/o djenos saber para as nosotros poder hacer algo al respecto.
Ha habido muchos cambios de salones, maestros se estn yendo, y nuevos maestros que estn llegando.
Habiendo dicho eso, nos gustara darle la bienvenida al seor James Solomon al equipo de octavo grado, a la seorita
Grace Solis a segundo grado, y a la seorita Gloria Taylos al equipo de primer grado. Todava estamos en la necesidad de contratar a otro maestro/a para el cuarto grado. Si ustedes conocen a un excelente maestro/a que est
buscando trabajo, por favor pdale que hable con un administrador.
Por favor asegrense de que todos los estudiantes lleguen a la escuela a tiempo. Queremos tener el 99%
de asistencia perfecta este ao! Padres, no podemos hacerlo sin su apoyo! Los estudiantes de 6to a 8avo grado,
hagan lo mejor posible por llegar a tiempo! La asistencia es muy importante!
Padres, por favor asegrense de que sus hijos vienen a la escuela vestidos con su uniforme escolar. Esto
significa que los pantalones de mezclilla no son aceptable. Los pantalones de mezclilla se permiten solamente durante los dias de vestir sin uniforme y en los dias de vestir en azul y Amarillo. Nosotros le llamaremos si su hijo/a no trae
el uniforme escolar. Cundo tengan dudas, llamen a la oficina central. No se les permitir a los estudiantes caminar
dentro de la escuela usando sudaderas con gorro, asi que asegrense de que ellos vengan a la escuela vestidos apropiadamente cuando la temperatura baje.
Como ustedes habrn notado, hemos puestos bastantes contenedores de basura por dondequiera en el
edificio. Por favor mantengan lnuestra escuela limpia y sin graffiti! Nuestra escuela es la segunda casa de sus hijos
cuando ellos no estn en casa.
No se olviden de asistir a la Casa Abierta! Ustedes conocern a los maestros de sus hijos. Quiero
agradecer a la comunidad de la Sawyer por unirse y apoyar durante el fallecimiento de una de nuestras maestras, la
seorita Josefina Arroyo. Nuestros estudiantes donaron $1, 415.00 para ayudar a la familia de la seorita Arroyo con
los gastos del funeral. Adems, maestros y otros miembros del personal donaron dinero a la familia privadamente.
Hay dos reuniones importantes durante este mes que ustedes no se pueden perder. La reunin del Ttulo 1 y el Estado de la Escuela. Por favor vea el calendario para mas detalles.
