Accommodations for ELL students

Time Extension:

Students are allowed as much time as needed to complete the exam, as long
as they are still working.

Once the allotted time for the exam has expired, proctors will walk the
students who are still working to the extended time room (LC 11).

Bilingual Dictionaries and/or Glossaries:

-

Students may use word-to-word bilingual dictionaries and/or glossaries in all

subjects except foreign languages.

Translated Versions and Oral Translators:

-

ELLs may use both English and an alternative language edition of the test
simultaneously. However, they should be instructed to record all of their
responses in only one language. The alternative language edition used by
the student should be so indicated on the student's answer sheet.

When there is no translated edition of an exam provided by the Department

of Education, an oral translator may be provided. All translations must be
oral, direct translations of the English editions. Written translations are not
allowed. No clarifications or explanations may be provided.
