Position Title: Chief Diversity Officer


The University Mission Statement:
Loyola University New Orleans, a Jesuit and Catholic institution of higher education,
welcomes students of diverse backgrounds and prepares them to lead meaningful lives

world. Inspired by Ignatius of Loyola's vision of finding God in all things, the university is
grounded in the liberal arts and sciences, while also offering opportunities for
professional studies in undergraduate and selected graduate programs. Through
teaching, research, creative activities, and service, the faculty, in cooperation with the
staff, strives to educate the whole student and to benefit the larger community.
Loyola University New Orleans invites applications and nominations for the position of
Chief Diversity Officer.
Description:
The Chief Diversity Officer (CDO) oversees programs, activities, and initiatives
designed to foster a climate that respects and promotes diversity and inclusiveness
which is in alignment with the Universitys Catholic, Jesuit mission and emphasis on
social justice.
The Chief Diversity Officer will:
lead campus efforts to foster a diverse and inclusive working/learning environment;
develop and implement strategic goals for diversity and inclusion that align with the
Universitys mission and strategic plan;
conduct campus-wide assessment to monitor our campus climate and achievement of
strategic goals;
develop effective strategies to promote diversity in faculty and staff hiring and actively
participate in building strong networks and recruitment resources;
collect and analyze data for University initiatives and reports;
develop and present training programs and disseminate information related to diversity
and inclusion; coordinate with University offices to assure consistency of Universitywide policies;
maintain current knowledge and materials related to laws, rules, regulation, and best
practices for advancing EEO/AA policies and procedures;
serve as the chair of committees and task forces related to diversity and inclusion;
performs related duties as assigned.

The CDO will report directly to the president of the University and serve as an advisor
on the presidents cabinet. The CDO will work closely with the provost, vice presidents,
deans, directors, department chairs, students, staff, and faculty.

Qualifications:
A successful candidate must have: experience in an administrative position; a
demonstrated record of experience related to diversity and inclusion; a record of
advancing institutional mission and strategic initiatives; and a record of commitment to
the community members within the institution.
A Ph.D. or an equivalent terminal degree and teaching experience are preferred.
