Introduction

This user guide is meant for users to connect their mobile device with Symbian through
SSID TP-Secure in Temasek Polytechnics

Symbian Configuration Guide


This guide is base on Nokia smartphone, model N81, Symbian OS version 9.2.
Slight variation may exist for different model and brand of the smartphone.
Please refer to your mobile phone web site on how to configure Wi-Fi for other model.

Setting of SSID, TP-Secure


Note: You have to configure your web to use proxy server; proxy.tp.edu.sg, port 80

1. Select Menu > Tools > Settings > Connection > Access points.

2. Select Options > New access point to create a new access point.
3. Define the following settings.
 Connection name — Enter a descriptive name, e.g < TP-Secure >; without < >

 Data bearer — Select < Wireless LAN >


 WLAN netw. name — Enter < TP-Secure > {SSID are case-sensitive}; without < >
 Network status — Select < Hidden >
 WLAN network mode —Select < Infrastructure >

 WLAN security mode — Select < 802.1x >


 Press WLAN security settings:
 Define the following settings.
 WPA/WPA2: Select < EAP >
 EAP plug-in settings: Select and Enable < EAP-PEAP >

 Press EAP-PEAP:
 Define the following settings on Settings tab
 Personal certificate: Select < Not Defined >
 Authority certificate: Select < Entrust.net.Secure Server Client >
 User name in use: Select < User defined >
 User name: Enter your TP admission number;
e.g. TPadmissionNumber@<domain>; 1234567A@TP-STUDENT
 Realm in use: Select < User defined >
 Realm: Leave as default
 Allow PEAPv0: Select < Yes >
 Allow PEAPv1: Select < No >
 Allow PEAPv2: Select < No >
 Define the following settings on EAPs tab
 Enable EAP-MSCHAPv2

 Press EAP-MSCHAPv2
 User name: Enter your TP admission number;
e.g. TPadmissionNumber@<domain>; 1234567A@TP-STUDENT
 Prompt password: Select No
 Password: Enter your TP Password
 press <Back> <BACK> <BACK> <BACK> <BACK>

To configure the web to use proxy server, please follow the follow steps;

1. Select Menu > Tools > Settings > Connection > Access points

Scroll and press TP-Secure > <Options >


Select and press Advanced settings
2. Define the following setting:
 Proxy server address: Enter < proxy.tp.edu.sg >; without < >
 Proxy port number: Enter < 80 >; without < >

Press <Back>

Connecting to SSID TP-Secure

Select Web > Setting > General > Access point > User defined > TP-Secure
Once authenticated, you will be able to browse the Internet.
