Generally, people live in just one town all their lives.

There, they
are born, go to school, have their friends and some of them move
towns only when they have to attend university. But in my case, the
situation is different: I was born in Posadas in 1991, where I lived until
I was 8. Later on, my family and me moved to Apostoles, which is 60
km away from Posadas, because of my fathers job. There, I grew up
and lived until I finished secondary school. Afterwards, I came to
Posadas again in order to attend the English Teacher Training. For this
reasons, I have two hometowns, which are really unique and special
places for me. They are similar in some aspects, but far more different
in others.
The first obvious similarity lies in that both towns are located at
the south of Misiones. Similar to Apostoles, Posadas has the same
subtropical climate as well as a great amount of vegetation. Like
Posadas, the commercial centre of Apostoles is located between four
avenues, and there are old buildings that take you back to the time of
Jesuitical missions. Furthermore, the inhabitants of the two cities are
friendly and gentle, so if you have an issue and ask someone for help,
they will definitely lend you a hand. However, the differences between
them are much more striking than the similarities.
One of the big differences between them lies in the number of
people that live in each of the towns. Whereas Posadas is a big city
with a population of 300.000 habitants, Apostoles is a small town with
no more than 40.000 people. Posadas is a dirty city, with a fast pace
of life, where you can find many activities to do: such as go to the
cinema, visit a museum, or go for a walk along the riverside.
Apostoles, on the contrary, is a clean and quiet town, where you can
drink mate at the park or rest. In addition, their economy is based in
different things: whilst Posadas more important industries are:
furniture, tobacco, construction and tourism, Apostoles is one of the
most important centres in the industry of Yerba Mate.
As shown above, both Posadas and Apostoles are two nearby
cities which share the same kind of people and are located in the
same province. However, they have much more differences, making
them unique and outstanding towns to live in, and both of them are
my hometowns. And like Sam Ewing quotes, When you finally go
back to your old hometown, you find it was not the old home you
missed but your childhood.
