The Relationship of Motivation and Regular Practice of cupping Therapy at Ar-Ridho
Clinic in Semarang

Abstract
Cupping therapy as a complimentary treatment is associated with stimulation of cellular
immunity that it increases stamina in order to prevent or fight diseases when it is carried out on a
regular basis. Regular practice of cupping therapy is hindered by some factors including
motivation. This research is aimed at finding out the relationship of motivation and regular
practice of cupping therapy at Ar-Ridho clinic in Semarang. It is a correlative descriptive
research that employs cross sectional approach. Respondents are patients undergoing cupping
therapy at Ar-Ridho clinic. The sampling method used was consecutive sampling involving 72
patients. Results show that most of the respondents are significantly motivated (54.2%), and
those who take regular cupping therapy amounts to 59.7%. Result of data analysis indicates the
relationship of motivation and regular practice of cupping therapy at Ar-Ridho clinic in
Semarang. Hence, cupping clinics should provide more information to patients concerning the
merit of cupping therapy when it is conducted regularly to help heal diseases.
