straws, small bucket, 4 yarn balls, 8 small cones, 4
large cones

Safety Considerations: The teacher will conduct the

fitness activity in a quality learning environment. All
equipment used will be age appropriate and placed
in a safe manner to reduce the risk of any injuries.
Each student will be spaced out accordingly to help
reduce any trouble. The teacher will verbally review
the rules and expectations before the start of the
activity. Before the start of class, the teacher will
have knowledge of any health related issues the
students may have, which will be provided by the
school. If an emergency were to occur, the teacher
will remain calm while moving the students to a safe
environment, based on the situation. If a student is
injured, the teacher will stop the activity and have
the students seated away from the injured student
while the teacher notifies the proper authorities of
the childs injuries. Each student will be aware of the
teachers signals (123 eyes on me). All equipment
will be placed on the ground/ floor while the teacher
is providing instructions and the students hands will
be placed in their laps.

Lesson Specifics
Behavioral Contingencies: The activities will begin
Previously Learned Skills: Dynamic Stretching,

behavior that is not allowed in Tiger Pride. The
student will sit out for a couple of minutes. If a fight
occurs, an adult supervisor will be called to detain the
students who were involved the rest of the students
will be seated out the way of harm until the situation
has been resolved.
Teaching Strategy: I will start the lesson using the
command style teaching strategy. The instruction will
be provided by using an interactive approach and
verbal cues to assist the students in understanding
the COTS that will be used during the dance activity.
I will also use student demonstration to help the
students have a better understanding of the task.

Academic Language: Some academic languages that

will be used are dynamic and static stretches.
Students will understand the differences between the
two. The students will also understand the purpose of
raising their heart rates and how to raise their heart
rates. Students will gain a strong sense of
understanding the importance of cooperative learning
during the dance module. Students will also
understand why spatial awareness is important during
busy activities such as dance. They will also learn to
listen when the teacher is talking.

Psychomotor (P): SWBAT successfully demonstrate the COTS for the fitness unit while
participating in MVPA with 50% success rate.
Student

Cognitive (C): SWBAT understand the difference between a static stretch and dynamic stretch
and while providing a demonstration and definition for each with 80%accuracy. They will also
be able to explain the importance of raising their heart rates with 85% accuracy.

Instant Activity:
Good afternoon class. As you come in
please be seated on a poly spot. For
todays instant activity we are going to
yarn ball relay race. The way the
game works is that I will break you up
into teams, you will stand in a single
file line behind your designated poly
spot. The person in front will be given
the yarn ball and when I say go
they will perform the task which the
teacher calls out. You must hand the
yarn ball to your partner and not
throw it. Once you have completed a
lap you must sit down, the first team
sitting down wins. Be sure to cheer on
your own team and be positive. We
will do this more than one time!! Does
everyone understand? Any questions?
Great, Im going to split you up into 4
teams Ready?
