For 5-year maintenance , complete the Timing Checklist in the Customer for
mechanism module. Interrupter maintenance is based on the current load on the
interrupter contacts and performed every 10 years. All O-ring seals should be
replaced with new ones on all breaker pole units.
Check: Carry out a comparison of the nominal and actual values (settings and readings
). Check hardware for tightness.
If, after the inspection period of 10 years, the parts are in very good condition , the
parts need not be replaced.
MAINTENANCE AND CHECKS ARE CARRIED OUT

The disc springs of the HMB-1S mechanism are treated with an anti-corrosion

coating.
Avoid cleaning the disc springs with solvents which could strip the anti-corrosion

coating.
Never scratch the disc spring or the anti-corrosion coating.
During inspection or repair, always replace old seals with new seals.
Use only new, clean seals without nicks or scratches.
Cleaning is done best with a rag soaked in clean hydraulic oil.
Never use abrasives for cleaning ( not even the finest).

SPECIAL PRECUTIONS

4.1
4.2
4.3
4.4

Get permission from Operation Division before staring the work.

Breaker must be removed from service , isolated, and grounded before
performing any maintenance.
Solid SF6 decomposition products could be harmful if swallowed by humans. Do not
inhale or allow decomposition products in contact with the skin, eyes, and respiratory
system .
Wear gloves, protective clothing, and a respirator before removing the rear tank cover
assembly.

4.5 Manual operation of the HMB-1S &1.4S Mechanism overrides all electrical breaker
operation lock-outs such as those that occur with low SF6 gas density. Perform
manual operations only if the circuit breaker is de-energized and disconnected from
the high voltage systems.
