LITURGICAL MINISTRY
The summer schedules are difficult in that ministry people will be away at various
times. It’s helpful to us
us to have you call replacements or to trade with one another.
Last minute replacements as the Liturgy begins are becoming difficultdifficult for the
celebrant and/or deacon.

take out, tea/coffee servers, tickets at the door, hostessing, as well as doing dishes.

Food: 4 desserts of any kind, 15 dozen buns
30 pies (mainly lemon & blueberry) 2 cheese trays
7 salads (mainly jello and cabbage)

HALL CLEAN UP: in preparation for the Parish Supper will be held on Wednesday, June 9th
at 7 p.m. All are welcome to come and help.
SET UP: of the hall for the Supper will be on Friday, June 11th at 7 p.m. Again, anyone is
welcome and encouraged to come and assist.
FOOD DROP OFF: for the supper is Saturday, June 12th between 3:30-5:00 p.m. and
Sunday, June 13th between 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
TAKE-OUT MEALS: to order take-out meals please call 613-432-5825 Ext. 2 anytime during
office hours (day of or prior to June 13th). Delivery available.

THE MOST HOLY BODY & BLOOD OF CHRIST
P ope Urban IV first extended the feast of Corpus
Christi to the universal Church in 1246. It origi-
nated at a time when reception of the sacrament was
rare among the people. This gave rise to an already
growing sense of devotion to the Eucharist as it was
viewed by the faithful during the elevation at Mass.
Over time, this came to be regarded as a principle
means of obtaining grace; i.e., seeing (adoring) the
Eucharist rather than receiving it in Holy
Communion. Today’s solemnity combines this
medieval feast of the body of Christ with the 19th
century feast of the Blood of Christ. In so doing,
the Church proclaims for us the ideal regard that
we should have for both species of the sacrament.
A t the same time, the Church continues to main-
tain the importance of Eucharistic devotion.
Stemming from the celebration of the Eucharist, in
which the Church does what Christ commanded – eat
and drink his body and blood in remembrance of
him – the Church also honours and adores Christ
reserved in the Blessed Sacrament.
>RUMMAGE SALE: A sincere THANKS to
all who donated, supported or attended our
Rummage Sale last Saturday. An extra
expression of GRATITUDE to those who
worked at or helped in any way to make the
event such a success. The total was
$2,158.80, which will be donated to charity.
THE FOOD BANK NEEDS YOUR HELP!
Schools and other organizations don’t do food drives
in the summer, but people still need to eat. With the
recession and higher costs for hydro and other bills,
more people than ever have had to use the Food Bank
this year. Help us avoid empty shelves this summer.
Please give generously! Money donations can be

Food can be dropped off at the Fire Hall.
