The Assembly of a Photobooth

Introduction
This technical procedure instructs how to assemble a mobile photobooth. This information is
intended to train new employees in the photobooth operation workforce. Below in Figure 1, the
major steps required are described in this procedure.

Figure 1: Major stages for assembly of the photobooth

To ensure that the assembly process is, each step should be followed accurately. After preparing
for the assembly of the photobooth, the assembly of the photobooth will be described in two

main stages: the structure and the electronic devices. Once the electronic devices are all
connected, the photobooth must be tested to be determined to be operational.

Jones Page 2

Prepare for Assembly

Assembling a photobooth can take between 30-minutes to 45-minutes. The location of operation
will be an important factor

in the

process. The location should

be:

Against one wall

In an area with at

least 7-feet

by 5-feet of open
Has at least one wall

space
outlet (see

Figure 2) within 10-

feet

General Requirements
Photobooth assembly requires a specific list of equipment that will be used during operation of
the photobooth. There are two different sets of items, one list is for the assembly of the metal
structure of the photobooth and the second list is for the electronic assembly required for
operation.

Jones Page 3

Assembly of the metal structure requires the following items to be used:

6-foot table
3 30-lbs base plates
5 aluminum poles
1 table holding aluminum pole
3 retractable aluminum curtain poles
1 metal bench
3 black heavy curtains
1 white heavy curtain
3 plastic clamps

The electronic items used in the assembly of the photobooth are:

15-foot electrical cord

1 photo printer and printer power cord
Tablet, tablet power cord, and wireless keyboard
Power cord splitter
1 USB to printer connection cord
1 photo light and power cord

In addition to these items, its recommended for the photobooth operator to also carry extra ink
cartrigages and printing paper for the printer. When using the printer, operators are recommended
to use a photo cutter. No external tools (such as a screwdriver, hammer, or wrench) are needed
for assembly.

Assemble the Metal Structure

For the assembly of the metal structure of the photobooth, first locate the 3-baseplates and
retractable curtain metal poles.
NOTE: The assembly of the base plates may need to be readjusted depending on setup location.
Setup Table, Baseplates, and
Retractable Curtain Poles
1. Setup the 6-foot table with the width against
the wall.
2. Place the 3-baseplates in a triangular

4. Use the 3-retractable curtain poles to measure the distance of baseplates
Setup

Aluminum Poles and

Bench
1. Place an

aluminum pole in the center of

each
2. Locate

Final product of the assembly of the metal structure should look similar to Figure 10, as seen
below. After this assembly, the process continues to the assembly of the electronic devices that
are used in the photobooth.

Assemble the Electronic Devices

The electronic devices must be properly updated and formatted prior to assembly to ensure that
the system will successfully be operational.
NOTE: Software updates on the tablet should be performed prior to operational use. In this
example, photobooth software Sparkbooth 3.8 is being run on a Windows 8.1 operating system.

Tablet and Printer Setup

1. Locate the tablet and tablet power cord
2. Using the tablet holder pole, clamp tablet between sliding holder (Figure 11)
3. Plug tablets power cord into port located on left side of tablet and spiral the cord down
the aluminum pole

Figure 11: Clamping tablet into place

4. Now set printer up in the middle of the 6-foot table, allowing for 8-inches of space
between the printer back and the tables edge
i.
The space between the printers back and the tables edge must be unobstructed
otherwise the printing process will be interrupted
5. Plug the printers power cord into the back of the printer
6. Put the printers paper tray into the front of printer
7. Locate the USB to printer connection cord (Figure 12)

8. Plug the USB connection into the USB outlet on the tablet (Figure 13)
9. Plug the printer connection into the printer (Figure 14)
10. Press the power button on both the tablet and the printer

Photo light and Electrical Cord Setup
1. Take the photo light out of the box and screw in the bottom of the photo light with the top
of the tablet holder (Figure 15)
2. Place battery pack in back of photo light and
plug power cord
3. Spiral power cord down the aluminum pole
4. Plug electrical extension cord into the wall
outlet (Figure 16)
5. Plug the electrical splitter into end of extension

Open Software Program
1. Turn the tablet power on
2. Swipe across the screen until Sparkbooth 3.8 is located on the desktop screen (Figure
17)
3. Click program to start it up (Figure 18)
NOTE: Program should automatically connect to the printer and operate in the default mode.

Test Photobooth
1. Sit inside the photobooth and press the Start button on the screen
2. Check that printer prints two separate strips of 4 pictures
3. If this doesnt work, press F2 on the keyboard and click reset settings
i.
F2 opens the settings in Sparkbooth 3.8

Conclusion
The photobooth is now assembled and operational. With the success of this procedure, assembly
of the photobooth can be quick and efficient. If assembly is quick and efficient, photobooth
operation can enhance an events experience. The preparation procedure will ensure that all
necessary items are there that are required for operation of photobooth.
