Requirements

VisaValidity

Foreignnationals,whoholdordinarypassportsorotherlegaltraveldocuments,whointendtostayin
the Republic of China for more than six months for the purpose of join family; pursed studies;
undertake employment; invest; conduct missionary work; conduct official duties; participate in
internationalexchangeprograms;andengageinotheractivitiesapprovedbyMOFAorotherrelevant
agenciesatthecentralgovernmentlevel.
1. Apassportvalidforatleastsixmonths;
2. Adulycompletedapplicationformwithtwo2x2inchcolorphotostakenwithinthepastsixmonths.
3. SupportingdocumentsorofficiallettersofapprovalfromacompetentauthorityoftheROC;and
4. Otherrelevantdocuments.
5. HealthCertificate*ifapplicable
AResidentVisaisvalidforthreemonths.

DurationofStay

Resident Visa holders are required to apply forthe Alien Resident Certificate and Reentry Permit
atlocalservicecentersoftheNationalImmigrationAgencywithin15daysstartingfromthenextdayof
theirarrival.TheymaystayintheROCaslongastheAlienResidentCertificateremainsvalid.

Fee

2. AnadditionalhandlingchargeofNT$800shallapplytoapplicationsmadeintheROCbyvisitorvisa
holdersapplyingforchangeorreplacementofvisitorvisaorresidentvisa.
3. ForforeignnationalsfromthecountrieswithwhichtheROChasenteredintoreciprocalagreements,
theResidentVisaisissuedgratis.

Remarks

IfforeignnationalswhohaveenteredtheROCwithVisitorVisasaresubsequentlylegallyemployedin
the ROC, they may make the necessary change from their Visitor Visa into a Resident Visa in this
countrydirectly.
The above regulations do not apply to blue collar workers or those who enter the ROC via the visa
exemptionprogramorlandingvisa.

AhealthcertificateissuedwithinthepastthreemonthseitherbyoneofthedesignatedlocalhospitalsinTaiwanorbya
licensed foreign hospital or clinic. In the case of a foreign certificate, the applicant should have it authenticated by
Taiwan,ROCEmbassy,ConsulateorMission,whichhasjurisdictionovertheplacewherethedocumentsareissued.The
