Do you have a
favorite hymn
or 3?
As part of an effort
to help our Pastors
choose music we all
love for worship
services, please
note your 3 favorite
hymns on the back
side of todays Registration Slip.
We will try to get to every request, so look
up and list your favorites today!

We will be forming a
group to study the
layout (liturgy and
music) of the
Contemporary Worship
Service. What would
you like to see the
Contemporary Worship
look like? This small
group will be limited to
5 members, so if you are interested in this shortterm study, please sign up on todays
Registration Slip. We will contact you when a
date and time is set for the first meeting.

UPCOMING
CHANGES TO PRAYER LIST
We are changing the way we do our prayer list
at St. Johns. This weekend you will notice two
prayer lists. If you had someone on the prayer
list, you must submit their name again for it to
remain there.
1. To place anyone on the prayer list you
can write them on the registration slip or
e-mail St. Johns at midgehe@cableone.net.
2. There will be two lists. The first list is
Prayer Concerns & Joys. When you place a
name on this list, it will be listed for two
weeks unless you request up to 4 weeks.
The second list is Long Term Prayer
Concerns in which names will be left on for
3 months. If you want names on longer or
taken off the list, please contact the office
and ask for Midge.
3. Please get the permission of any person
before you place their name on the
prayer list.

The Get Together team invites everyone to attend

our Fall Kick Off Event on Wednesday, Oct. 5 from
6-7:30 pm. Supper will be served at 6 PM, then on
to a pumpkin decorating contest! Each household
will receive one large pumpkin to decorate and enter
into the contest. Limited supplies will be provided,
and you're encouraged to bring your own supplies to
decorate your pumpkin. Grand prize to be awarded
to the winning pumpkin. No carving allowed.
Back by popular demand, pumpkin bowling will
be available on the lawn, and we'll end the evening
with a campfire and music. We hope to see you
there!

St. Johns first

worship service
at our current
location was
held on Sunday,
December 11,
1966. Fifty
years later, we
will celebrate
with a special
worship service
at 10 AM and
showcase a Celebration of Wreaths made by
YOU, the individuals and households of St.
Johns. Start thinking and assembling now
how would you be represented? Wreaths will
be displayed all of advent throughout St. Johns.
Contact Pr. Justin or Carol Waggoner for more
information.

THANKS SO MUCH to the crew who repaired

damage, caulked cracks, primed and painted the
north side of the building: Denny Braesch, Mike
Frank, Del Fuelberth, Peg Strong, Ron Benson,
Duane Timperley, and Brian Brasch and to Lon
Timperley for the use of the lift truck. All your
hard work is GREATLY appreciated!

~
Gods Work was going on at the Norfolk Food
Pantry in September. Volunteers of St. Johns
family with caring hearts, time, talents, food,
money and prayers gave our hands to pack
groceries for about 200 households. THANK YOU
to everyone for your dedicated services. You are
appreciated by many people!
Shirley Frowick
Food Pantry Coordinator
(And St. Johns special thanks to Shirley for her
many hours organizing, calling volunteers,
gathering groceries and shopping for perishables
for the pantry. St. Johns volunteers rock!)

We will be updating our military wall

which is located off the Narthex to the
east. If you have loved ones currently
serving in the military, please send a
photo to the church office so that we
may include them in our thoughts and
prayers. Email your photos to
midgehe@cableone.net.
