A Bomb to Come

By: Kari Sundin

In creating A Bomb to Come, I was inspired by the political standpoints and elections
going on, along with general world issues taking place at this time. My piece visually shows the
democrats on one side, and the republicans on the other. The background was the American flag.
I decided to place the bomb right in the center, because based on politics right now, my view as I
see it is, both republican and democrats are just throwing insults back and forth and everybody as
a public isnt really choosing a side. They are just saying how bad each side is and I wanted to
represent that as a bomb blown up between the two, representing the public. I used water color
on the piece along with pen. At the end of the piece I also decided to burn the edges and some
holes within the piece to give it an old/broken look. Along the way, everything went smoothly
and my piece came out as planned except for one minor detail. When I was burning holes and
the edges of my piece one hole expanded to big too quickly and I was unable to prevent it from
occurring. Due to this I had on big hole on the republican side that made no sense in my piece. I
fixed it by placing a vote now sign within the hole and it just happened to work with my piece
and its colors. Although I had my single set back, my overall piece came out well. Through my
place I learned that even though you might have set backs you shouldnt be so tight, and let your
mind be open to changes or set-backs, because you might end up liking them in the final
outcome/product.
