List any ISTE-S standards that seem to naturally align with the selected resource.
1. Facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity

Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and
technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity,
and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments.
B. Engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems

using digital tools and resources

D. Model collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in learning with

students, colleagues, and others in face-to-face and virtual environments

RESOURCE DESCRIPTION
Give a brief description of the technology/resource.

Camtasia is a website application that allows you to record a video of what is actually
happening on your screen. It seems most effective from a teachers point of view that is
trying to explain how to connect to Wi-Fi. She/he can make a Camtasia recording that shows
exactly what is happening on the other side of the screen to demonstrate how to properly
set up Wi-Fi. It can also incorporate quizzes, allow unlimited video tracks, and add noise
cancelling if need be.

INTEGRATION/IMPLEMENTATION IDEA - SCREENCASTING

How might you use this resource to promote student learning? Describe who will be doing the
screencasting you or your students, and what purpose it will serve.

I do not feel that students could effectively use the screen casting, but I do believe that
teachers could to show students how to do something on the Internet. For instance, in high
school I had no idea how to use PowerPoint, but if I had a teacher make a brief Camtasia
showing me the just of what to do it would have made my life much easier. The only thing
that would promote student learning with this screen casting application would be to show
them step by step how to do something.

VALUE-ADDED EXPLANATION

Given the information above, how would the technology integration you described, using the
selected resource? (On the Value-Added Rating Scale above)
Explain your rating based on the indicators on the rubric.

I would give this screen casting a 1-2. I have never really been a huge fan of screen casting
for high school teachers, but I do see it being effective in a college class. The students will
most likely use it directly, but the teacher would be the one that would have had to create it,
unless the students assignment was to demonstrate their knowledge about something on
their screen. It is most certainly a nice supplement to a lesson, but by all means does not
play a critical role to content standards. (Based off of my history content standards).
