Assessment 1 Case Study Presentation

For this assignment, students are given the opportunity to work in groups (about 4-5 students in a group) to deliver a
presentation, based on a case analysis. Cases will be allocated to groups by the lecturer in Week 2. Whilst the case
is not exhaustingly extensive (just like in a real-world situation where information is obscure at times), students are
expected to find out about the organisation and its environments from reading a variety of sources.
Students are expected to analyse the given case using theories, concepts and analytical tools of strategic
management. It is important to analyse the external and internal environments of the organisation and the strategic
management concepts applicable to the particular organisation. Students need to demonstrate their critical analysis
in putting all the information together and analysing the issues using theories and concepts.
Students are also responsible to educate the class about important concepts relating to the assigned topic. They
may use activities such as games, video, mini questions and answers session, role play, and others, which may help
other students to understand the concepts. The idea is to have an activity that will encourage other students (i.e.,
your peers) to progress beyond textbook learning.
The duration of the oral presentation (including the activity) should be a maximum of 30 minutes.
All students are expected to read each and every case for effective contribution towards case discussion. It is
anticipated that the audience will be prepared to ask critical questions for the presenters based on their own analysis
of each case.
Comments from peers will be provided for the purpose of students development. The final evaluation is done by the
lecturer.
It is anticipated that the group will deliver the presentation in a professional manner. ALL group members must play
an active role and demonstrate both oral presentation skills and knowledge of your topic area. The total mark for this
assessment is 35% including 15% for individuals oral presentation and individuals contribution as presented in the
presentation pack (see below).
The group must also submit a presentation pack to the Lecturer on the day of the presentation. It should include:
A copy of your PowerPoint slides;
A detailed information relating to the slides;
For example, you may have bullet points in your Powerpoint slides so as not to bore your audience, but in the
presentation pack, you MUST provide detailed information/elaboration of those bullet points with justifications and
references. You need to present this information in a professional manner and it must clearly elaborate the points you
have presented. There is no word limit for this.
Reference list;
A copy of your activity designed for your peers;

A sheet to outline the allocation of tasks among group members.
