Welcome to my Education portfolio, and thank you very
much for taking the time to visit. My name is Amanda Rake and I am currently a Middle School Education Student at Alverno College with a minor in Science. While creating this portfolio I kept thinking about how Alverno has helped mold me into the teacher I wanted to be and who I am today. One of the most important understandings of being a teacher is that you are a life long learner. Every year I will get new students, which means that I have to be flexible in my teaching and use different approaches. While reading over lessons, projects, papers, self-assessments etc. I can see how much I have improved and how using different teaching approaches and strategies have become more natural and effortless. My portfolio is set up to be simple yet engaging. The way I chose to organize my portfolio is through my different field placements. In each of the different placements I have improved and gained more knowledge of what it means to be an effective teacher. There are rationales for the ten Wisconsin Teaching Standards and the Averno Abilities throughout my different fields. The rationales are very significant pieces since they deeply reflect my teaching. I would like to thank you for the time you are taking to review and assess my portfolio. I look forward to hearing your feedback. With appreciation, Amanda Rake (414) 704-8325 rakeal@alverno.edu
