Teaching and Learning activities:


Habitual actions
1. Teacher shows powerpoint slides on Habitual Actions. As she shows
the slides, the teacher asks questions on the Habitual Actions shown.
Eg: What is the boy/girl doing? Pupils listen and respond.
2. Teacher initiates discussion and talks about what pupils do in their
daily lives. Pupils respond.
Eg. What do you do in the morning?
What do you do in the evening?
Charades:
1. Teacher divides the class into two groups; A and B. Teacher explains
to the pupils how charades is played by demonstrating using a child
from each group in turn.
Eg. a.
Pick a picture from the box.
b.
Show the action to your group. (Pupil shows action with
guidance from teacher).
c.
Teacher asks the class, What is he/she doing? (Pupils
respond.)
d.
Steps are repeated with a child from Group B.
2. Teacher tells pupils that a point will be assigned to every correct
answer and that while one group is doing the activity, the other
group has to remain silent.
Eg. a.
Correct answers will be given one point.
b.
Group B be quiet when Group A is doing the activity and
Group A be silent when Group B is doing the activity.
3. Teacher explains that they have to go on until all the pictures in the
box are taken, then the points are added up. The winning group gets
star stickers.
Eg. a. You will go on until there are no more pictures in the box.
b. The group with the highest points wins.
4. Teacher indicates when it is time to start the activity and guides the
pupils as the activity progresses.

What I Do Daily

1. Teacher asks pupils to get into pairs.


Eg. I want each of you to find a friend and hold his/her hand (Teacher
demonstrates and helps pupils to get into pairs).
2. Teacher uses one pair of pupils to demonstrate how the activity is
carried out. Teacher gives a set of four question strips to one child in
the pair.
3. Teacher asks the child to read one of the questions and asks the other
child to answer the question. The steps are repeated until all four
questions have been asked.
Eg.

a.

Take one strip. (Child 1)

b.

Read the question. (Child 1)

c.

Answer the question. (Child 2)

Teacher then asks the first child to hand the question strips to his/her
partner and the steps are repeated.
Eg.

a.

Give the strips to your friend. (Child 1)

b.

Take one strip. (Child 2)

b.

Read the question. (Child 2)

c.

Answer the question. (Child 1)

4. Teacher indicates to the class when they have to start the activity.
Eg. Class you may start now.
5. Teacher monitors and gives guidance as needed.

Simon Says
1. Teacher tells the students that they are going to play Simon Says
(Students have played the game before). Do you remember Simon
Says?
2. Teacher explains how it is played to refresh their memory.

Eg.

a.

When I say Simon says wake up, you must act like
You are waking up. (Teacher demonstrates with gestures
To illustrate waking up.

3. Teacher starts the activity. Pupils respond to teachers commands.
