ADAM & STEVE WHY NOT??

Alan Turing the father of the modern computer was a homosexual. Turing a man who invented
one of the greatest machines of the millennium, the Computer during the time of the World War
2 was termed as mentally instable by the law as he was attracted to men than women. This was
what people thought about the homosexuals during the World War era. Alan Turing was given
certain medicines by the Appellate authority that time to cure him of his so called Mental
Sickness Homosexuality.
Around 60 years later Alan Turing was granted a Royal Pardon by the British Crown for terming
him a mentally instable criminal for not abiding the law. He was a granted this award
Posthumously obviously. Alan Turing committed suicide when he no longer could sustain the
ill treatment he received by the British Government for just loving another man.
It is the 21st Century and the human mind still cannot completely digest the fact of an individual
loving someone else belonging to the same gender.
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender or more commonly known as the LGBT class of people are
still a taboo in most of the countries. USA just very recently legalised the same sex marriage that
too after an ongoing case for two years Obergefell vs Hodge. The Supreme Court Of USA won
this majority vote with a win of 5-4 legalising this class of people and providing them with a
separate legal identity altogether. This win in the American nation created a worldwide uproar of
support for the LGBT Community worldwide. The Rainbow Flag or more commonly known as
the LGBT Pride flag could be seen all around the globe. This flag took the social media by a
storm. Just a year ago when Tim Cook, the current CEO of Apple revealed to the world that he is
proud to be gay gives us the message no matter what is being legalised by who, you just cannot
take the basic freedom of life of who a person wishes to spend his life with.
What would you do if you recently discovered that your best friend is a homosexual?
Would you support his cause and fight for him? Or would you turn your back against him and
runaway?

Years back we didnt believe in inter-caste marriages but now we try to set up inter-caste
marriages. The CHANGE is something what we humans take a long time to digest. It is the
CHANGE that we have to accept and adapt to it.
Supporting the previous question, I personally would stand by my friend and support his cause.
In a country like India where we have had a Muslim President elected along with a Sikh Prime
Minister and an Italian woman running one of the largest political party, why cant we have
people affectionate to the same gender.
The LGBT class of our country are after all the citizens of our country. As per the Constitution
of India the Fundamental Rights and the Directive Principles apply to them equally. Expression
is a form of love. We have the Right to freedom of expressing ourselves in whatever form or
medium we wish to.
What wrong have they done? They have just expressed themselves in the medium called love.
The Preamble of the constitution states our country to be Sovereign, Socialist, and Secular, but is
it really the case? Are we really that free from control? Do we really feel peaceful from the
inside?
We may, but they do not. A bisexual couple or a gay couple do deserve a satisfactory and a
peaceful life as much we do. Unless and until gay marriage is not legalised in our country this
will never be the case.
If the country claims itself to be a secular country where it is ready to protect and accept all
religions then why is it not ready to accept all classes and types of human beings. How can you
change someones feelings? If that person is a gay or a lesbian or a transgender then why is not
legally recognised and allowed to live and marry and be accepted into the community.
When Madhu a transgender rewrote history by becoming the mayor of Raigarh then why cant
the government. Transgenders in our country are seen in trains and crossroad signals begging for
money. They wouldnt be doing so if the corporate sector accepts them and employs them as
normal employees.
The government knows and also realizes that the LGBT class category people are huge voting
banks but only if they are treated in the right manner.
Recently the citizens of our country were highlighted upon the fact that the number of kids being
adopted in our country has reduced. Yes it will be reduced because the people who really need
adoption are being abstained from being recognised as a married couple. If we do allow gay
marriages in our country then the number of kids being adopted will increase.
This debate about whether the gay marriages in india should be legalised or not in is more of a
religious debate than a political one. The Gay Community in our country is either termed as

unnatural or as uncouth. These people are no better than untouchables. The unorthodox families
and even the highly educated class are not able to grasp the fact that after all they are HUMANS.
The influence of religion and blind faith is what is clouding their thought process and to accept
this new alteration.
Marriage is a sacred union between two people. I also believe that our country was founded on
the principle that everybody has the right to the pursuit of happiness. And if a man marrying a
man or a woman marrying a woman makes them happy then I think its okay. I do not believe it
affects anyone negatively.
The citizens of this country do realize that a change of such a magnitude is not easy to be
implemented at such a short notice but they havent anywhere said anything of not supporting
the change.
