#LS4BIP: Sizing Recommendations

Sizing Lumira Common Caveats
Use the BI 4 Sizing best practices in conjunction with the
Lumira Sizing recommendations.
After all you are just sizing for an additional node in your BI
landscape.

Merged datasets are more complex to process, and can

require more memory and processing resources

The refresh and edit workflows are memory-intensive

operations requiring new copies of the data to be loaded
on the In-Memory data engine

#LS4BIP: Sizing Recommendations

Sizing Lumira Common Caveats
By default, LS4BIP allocates 85% of the available memory
of host machines at start up to the In-Memory data engine.
Sharing Mechanism Workspace Manager
When two concurrent users view the same Lumira document,
a single copy of the document is loaded on the In-Memory
data engine.
However, when the document is refreshed or edited by one of
the users, a new and separate copy of the document is
created and loaded on the data engine.

A Few Tips & Recommendations

Data Source:
Make sure the XLS/CSV/TXT source are available in the
shared location to support refresh in BI Launchpad
FHSQL refresh requires driver configuration on BI Platform

Desktop
Universe Query Panel Extension should be installed on
Lumira Desktop for Universe support
Desktop Governance is supported from BI 4.1 SP05 Patch
5 onwards
Lumira Desktop and Lumira Server for BI Platform version
must be maintained

A Few More Tips & Recommendations

Deployment and Installation:
Deploy Lumira Server on a dedicated system
The installer doesnt identify LIMA in the distributed
environment, must un-install LIMA before installing Lumira
Server for BIP
