Acts 16:30-34 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to

God, and the prisoners were listening to them, and suddenly there was a great
earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all
the doors were opened, and everyones bonds were unfastened. When the jailer
woke and saw that the prison doors were open, he drew his sword and was about to
kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped. But Paul cried with a loud
voice, Do not harm yourself, for we are all here. And the jailer [fn] called for lights
and rushed in, and trembling with fear he fell down before Paul and Silas. Then he
brought them out and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said,
Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household. And
they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. And he
took them the same hour of the night and washed their wounds; and he was
baptized at once, he and all his family. Then he brought them up into his house and
set food before them. And he rejoiced along with his entire household that he had
believed in God:

Notes: It begins with Faith- Paul and Silass answer to the Philippian jailers question
is the essence of salvation: Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be
saved. This verse raises two questions: What does it mean to believe, and what
does it mean to be saved? Believe includes the idea of total trust, dependence, and
submission of oneself to Christ as Lord. To be saved is to be delivered. We are
delivered from the very presence of sin and evil and will be delivered into the very
presence of God. We receive this new life by faith- believing that we are sinful, that
Jesus died for our sins, that His death was in our place, and that His payment for sin
us fully acceptable in Gods sight. Faith can be summarized in the acrostic:

Family-This man assumed spiritual leadership of his family by being the first to
repent, to humble himself before God and ask forgiveness and a change of life. By
his example, the rest of his family was won. In the same way, every believing father
has the responsibility to set the example of spiritual commitment, and to teach his
family all he knows of following Christ.
First we must Hear Romans 10:17-So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by
the word of God. So in order for us to go anywhere we must hear. Its easy to hear
and not to listen. We all want to hear the bible when its convient for us to do so.
Thats not what its here for. Its here to show us what all the people before us went
through not only them but our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Am sure there were

days where even Christ wanted to sit back but when theres work to be done theres
work to be done. Its easy
