Lab 2 - Grid Manipulation


Introduction

This lab instructs the designer in manipulating grids in the SP3D model.

Step
1

Lab 2
From the main menu: Go to Tasks>Grids. From the vertical toolbar select the Place Elevation
Plane icon to begin placement of an additional elevation plane within an existing grid system.

Alert! Always verify that your assigned coordinate system, ie CSS_STR-210, CSS_STR-220,
CSS_STR-230 is shown in the CS text field when manipulating the coordinate system.

Lab 2
Revise the ribbon bar fields using the data shown in Table 1.
Placement using the Ribbon Bar:
In the ribbon bar, enter the values, as shown in Table 1. The Offset value is dynamic with the mouse
movement. The Offset value will not lock, unless the Placement by Graphical Method is used, as
explained below. Therefore, avoid moving the mouse cursor over the graphics view. Key-in the
Offset: value as the last input value. Then, click Enter.
Placement By Graphical Method :
From the Main Menu go to Tools>PinPoint.
To lock the Offset: value in the ribbon bar, type in the required value in the Elevation field;
El: 47 0, which is located along the coordinate fields. Then click Enter. When you move the cursor
over the graphics view, notice in the ribbon bar the Offset value is now locked and is no longer
dynamic with the mouse movement. Left mouse click on the graphics view to place the new
Elevation Plane.

Select the Properties icon and modify the naming rule to Imperial Global Position. Click OK.

Placement By Graphical Method :
From the Main Menu go to Tools>PinPoint.
To lock the Offset: value in the ribbon bar, type in the required value in the East coordinate field;
E: 49 0. Then click Enter. When you move the cursor over the graphics view, notice, in the
ribbon bar the Offset value is now locked and is no longer dynamic with the mouse movement.
Left mouse click on the graphics view to place the new Grid Plane.
Select the Properties icon and modify the naming rule to Alpanumeric and Percent. Click OK.

Right click in the graphical view to exit the application.


Note: Names of planes created changes based on location and user specified rule.

Turning off Rulers From the main menu, select View>Rulers


While holding down the <Ctrl> key, select grid planes (highlighted in grey color) to turn off.
Click OK.
