I'm glad to be finally back from a very su ccessfu l cu stomer Go-live
of an SAP ERP 4.7 to ECC 6.0 Eh p7 Near-zero Dow n time (n ZDM)
u pgrade, combin ed w ith a database u pgrade an d platform
migration from AIX/O racle 11g to Lin ux/O racle RAC 12c over th e
Presiden t's Day holiday. There w ere plenty of sleepless n igh ts
du rin g go-live but th e clien t w as very happy w ith th e performan ce
of the new system. It w as good to be prepared for performan ce
comparisons men tion ed in ou r last blog post abou t Cru cial
Performance Tips for Upgrades & Migration s. O n average, Batch
w orkload ran tw ice as fast, and Dialog rocketed to th ree times th e
speed compared to th e old system. The in creased speed an d
capacity w ill allow th is cu stomer to drastically improve th e w ay
bu sin ess is don e in the near futu re, in clu din g th e ability to
replicate and report n ear real-time u sin g a combin ation of ECC,
BW on HANA and SAP LT Replication Server (SLT - SAP Lan dscape
Tran sformation), oth erw ise kn ow n as a Sidecar scen ario. SAP SLT
is enablin g cu stomersto replicate bu siness data across th eir
system lan dscape at th e database trigger level, th u s allow in g h igh
speed data syn ch ron ization betw een similar or disparate database
platforms. For th e Basis team, th is is an oth er tech n ical scen ario to
monitor to en su re th e availability an d performan ce of SLT meets
th e bu sin ess demand for near real-time in formation . See SAP

replication

GREEN to YELLO W to RED, alerts are n ot sen t via n otification

LTRC existed before LTRO , an d w as developed to view on e

con figu ration at a time so it's more cu mbersome if you are

Setup & Monitoringusing

Solution Manager
Setup instruction s an d examples can be fou n d atSCN blog SAP

details. Bu t, I w ill say it took u s a few days to con figu re an d
trou bleshoot th e setu p, in stall and u pdate all kin ds of plu gin s
an d su pport packs, activate BI objects, an d yet w e still don 't get
an y statu s or performan ce data in Solu tion Man ager. See sample
screen sh ots below w here statu s are blank. Th erefore, I'm n ot
impressed w ith th is mon itorin g setup and fu n ction ality,
particularly it only gain mon itorin g of aggregated data.
NOTE: Per SAP:The system monitoring capabilities of SAP Solution
Manager do not allow the viewing of details for each table and related
trigger it contains only aggregated information for a schema, su ch as
job, trigger an d table statu s. Th is remain s th e th eme of Solu tion
Man ager w h ere most data is aggregated, bu tprovides on ly a big
picture, h ow ever you still w ou ld n eed to log on to th e man aged
system to look for more detail.

3rd-Party SLT Monitoring

O u r first su pport of SLT mon itorin g add-on man agemen t pack for
SAP MP for SCO M w ill provide availability an d performan ce of
each table in each SLT con figu ration , allow in g in depen den t
th resh old settin gs for alerts outside of SLT Server. Th is release in
March w ill be in clu ded FREE for ou r SAP MP cu stomers. As w e
con tin u e to add featu res to SLT Monitorin g, w e w ill also su pport
it via ou r cloud-based IT-Con du ctor solu tion w h ere you can bu ild
service level mon itors for SLT

W ith HANA Live and Sidecar apps on th e rise, real-time or
