a) Neville Chamberlain has been accused of being directly responsible for the Second World War. Would
you agree that he is guilty of this?

Neville Chamberlain ws partly responsible as he let hitler get away with too much, and Hitler saw that
he could litterally get away with murder, and that Neville was weak and not able to control anyone.
There were also long term causes that led to the war. After the first world war the League of nations
had made Germany powerless, reducing its army, navy, air force and plunging it into inflation. The
Germans wanted revenge and Nevilld Adolf Hitler promised that they would have it. He took over most
countries that had been lost by them and re-armed the Rhineland, saying it was in defence from other
Nations, and Neville Chamberlain let them have it, However, it was not only Neville chamberlain, the
other strong nations let Hitler pass by. Neville was the only one to have to courage to talk to him, and
try and settle the matter, in my opinion there were many other matters. We can use SCAB to see what
happenned;

-SCAB suspicion- In europe anyone and everyone was suspicious of each other, Poland was suspicious
that if Russia made friends with Germany then they would try and take over the country, Britain was
suspicious that Germany and Russia would ally and take ove the world, France was suspicious that
everyone wanted to steal their baguettes.

SCAB choice- Russia had a choice whether to become allies with Germany or Britain, Britian wanted to
make agreements with Russian and wanted to send Lord Halifax, the foreign minister, he kept delaying
and they eventually sent a posh guy who came on slow boat, Stalin got annoyed and hated the British
delays and when the posh guy arrived he had no power and had to keep telephoning London to get
answers.

SCAB Appeasement - Stalin saw that Britain was bieng a cowardly country and letting Hitler do
everything he wanted. Stalin realised that he didn't want to ally himself with a country like Britain that
just avoided enemies. So Stalin decided to join up with a powerful man like Hitler who wasn't afraid to
do what he wanted.

SCAB British Delay - Britain agreed to have talks with Joseph Stalin about joining together. Britain's
foreign minister Lord Halifax sent a man with no power over! The man doing the peace talks with Stalin
would have to keep on phoning back to the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister for approval of his
decisions. Stalin became sick of waiting for Britain and decided to sign a pact with a man who actually
had power and plans for the future, Adolf Hitler, thus the Nazi-Soviet Pact was born.

The SCAB theory shows that Neville Chamberlain was one of the figure heads for causing World War
Two along with Hitler. Mussolini, Stalin and Daladier must also be taken into account as they did
nothing to prevent the war from happening. But the main cause of World War Two was Neville
Chamberlain's apopeasement of Hitler because as we now know, Hitler was never going to stop if
Chamberlain carried on with his appeasement scheme, it was a regime dead from the beginning.
