0 Plastering Work
4.1 Introduction
After the brickwork we have to do plastering work. In Other hand plastering is the
decorating method. Actually the plaster saved our brick wall. Generally we are plastering in
somewhere, we can paint it easily. Actually we can divide it to two sections. They are,
1. Internal Plastering
2. External Plastering

4.2 Internal Plastering

Internal plaster is very smooth plaster. Generally we are finished internal walls are
very smoothly. Because always we are try to decorate internal very beautifully. Generally we use
lime mortar to plastering work. But here we are use Holcim Pedareru cement for plastering
work. The ratio of the mortar mixture is 1:1:6 (Cement: Lime: Sand).

4.2.1 Internal Plastering Procedure.

First we should clear the off line of the wall.

Off line
100/150/200mm

Then put first level point like Fig.02. Normally plaster thickness was
given in the drawings. Then we can deduct plaster thickness from the off
line and put level points.

Like that put some level points in bottom level.

Then using plum bob put some another level points like fig.03.

Fig.03
Distances between two level points are 1800mm.

In the curve wall this distance is 6 inches.

After putting lime mortar mixture the wall is rough. Therefore we should smooth
the plaster. We can use mason trowel or finishing trowel to do that.
We are making another mixture by mixing water & sieving lime.
Then we are make 3mm smooth plaster on top of the rough plaster. And smooth
very well.

4.3 External Plaster

External plaster is rough plaster. The ratio of the mortar mixtures 1:1:6(Cement: Lime:
Sand). Actually this plaster is save our brick wall like vertical DPC.

4.3.1 External Plastering Procedure

First make plumb line by using sting on top of the building. The minimum thickness
between the line and the wall is 20mm.
Then put level points according to that line. Distance between two level points is
1800mm.
Then put mortar mixture according to those level points.
Then sieving the sand by using small size sieves and make another mixture. The ratio of
this mixture is1: 3(Cement: sand).
Finally apply this mixture to the wall smoothly. We called that coat-finishing coat. After
applying this coat we can get bright finish.

4.3.2 Whether Grove And Coping

Under the external plastering work we have to do whether groove making and coping
making. Purpose of whether groove making is prevents rainwater coming inside the building.
This is based on the surface tension theorem.

4.4 Plaster Checking

There are two methods of checking plaster. They are,
1. Using plum bob
2. Using level bar
