Louver is a ventilation product that allows air to pass through it, while keeping out unwanted
elements such as water, dust and debris Fixed blades mounted inside the frame allows this function.
The basic parameters for selecting louvers are Free Area, Water Penetration and Pressure Loss.
Obstruction is essential in order to keep undesirable water out. A fully obstructed opening allows no
water in. While a totally unobstructed opening allows water to enter unimpeded. A perfectly
designed louver maximizes the free area.
Construction & Application

(@ Fresh air louver isa device which channels clean air to the ar handling units from external atmosphere.
Lowers are the most important air terminal devices which utilize and control the inflow and outflow of air whether itis for
industrial, commercial or domestic application.
1B Suitable where prevention of ight and rain water ingression isa priority.
1 Rugged assembly provides long term durability.
1 Suitable in air inlet of fresh air ducts and air handling units.
1m Lowers can be installed directly on the walls for the ventilation,

Assembling Features
1 Fresh air louvers comes with horizontal fixed vanes fitted in a frame. Heavy gauged profile frames and rain water repellent
aluminum vanes compliment the building's external wall where it can be suitably installed.
The vanes are mounted parallely above one another ata gap of 3 inches to give an optical impression of a continuous strip. Each
vane leat is deflected downwards to 45 degree at result in low pressure drop and allow maximum free area,
Downward inclination prevents rain water ingression.
A standard Louver includes a rear mounted expanded bird screen riveted in-between the inner neck lip and the back face of
frame. Bird screens are made up of galvanized steel mesh
1 The heavy gauged, stream lined, extruded aluminum profile frame provides rigidity to withstand high temperature and corrosion
1 The noise created of pressure while expeliing or intaking is minimized by opposed blade damper on demand and as usuel the
assembled opposed blade damper can be operated from the front face of unit.

For those not in the scheduled sizes, the free area can be
calculated by means of the below recammended equation as
‘ven below:
Free Area (5a.F
Whereas
(0.55 x H=0.25) (W~0.12)
W=Width in feet,
H = Height in feet,
CFM = Free Area x Face Area Velocity,
Selection Procedure
Mustrative Example
= os Exhaust requirements for 2000 CFM with a pressure drop of
30 0.050" wg. The veloctyressure drop graph shows 1500 FPM
eS velocity was achieved at 0.050” w.g. The free area is
gy 002 determined by dividing the CFM by the velocity.
