Applications are invited from eligible Indian citizens for appointment as Probationary Officers (POs) in State Bank of India.
Candidates selected are liable to be posted anywhere in India

QUALIFICATION

(On or before 31.08.2016)


Degree in any discipline from a recognized University.
Those who are in the Final Year/Semester of their Graduation may also apply provisionally subject to the condition that, if called
for interview, they will have to produce proof of having passed the graduation examination on or before 31.08.2016.
AGE
: (As on 01.04.2016) 21 30 Yrs. i.e candidates must have been born not earlier than
02.04.1986 and not later than 01.04.1995 (both days inclusive)
(Relaxation for SC/ST 5 Yrs, OBC 3 Yrs, Ex-Servicemen- 5 Yrs, PWD 10 Yrs)

SELECTION PROCEDURE
Phase-I ( Preliminary Examination): Preliminary Examination consisting of Objective Tests for 100 marks will be conducted
online. This test would be of 1 hour duration consisting of 3 Sections as follows:

Candidates have to qualify in each of the three tests by securing passing marks to be decided by the Bank. Adequate number
of candidates in each category as decided by the Bank (approximately 20 times the numbers of vacancies subject to
availability) will be short listed for the Main Examination.
Phase II ( Main Examination) : Main Examination will consist of Objective Tests for 200 marks and Descriptive Test for 50 marks.
Both the Objective and Descriptive Tests will be online. Candidates will have to answer Descriptive Test by typing on the computer.
Immediately after completion of Objective Test, Descriptive Test will be administered.
(i) Objective Test:The Objective Test of 3 hours duration consists of 4 sections for total 200 marks. The Objective Test will have
separate timing for every section. The candidates are required to qualify in each of the tests by securing passing marks, to be
decided by the Bank.

0.25 of the assigned mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
(ii) Descriptive Test: The Descriptive Test of 30 minutes duration with 50 marks will be a Test of English Language (Letter Writing &
Essay). The candidates are required to qualify in the Descriptive Test by securing passing marks, to be decided by the Bank.
Descriptive Test paper of only those candidates will be evaluated who have scored qualifying marks in the Objective Tests and are
placed adequately high as per total marks in Objective Test.
Phase III: Group Discussion (20 marks) & Interview (30 marks)
The aggregate marks of candidates qualifying in both the Objective Tests and the Descriptive Test will be arranged in descending
order in each category. Adequate number of candidates in each category, as decided by the Bank will be called for Group Discussion
and Interview. The qualifying marks in Group Discussion & Interview will be as decided by the Bank.

Final Selection : The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination (Phase-I) will not be added for the selection and only the
marks obtained in Main Examination (Phase-II), both in Objective Test and Descriptive Test, will be added to the marks obtained
in GD & Interview (Phase-III) for preparation of the final merit list.
The candidates will have to qualify both in Phase-II and Phase-III separately. Marks secured by the candidates in the Written Test
(out of 250 marks) are converted to out of 75 and marks secured in Group Discussion & Interview (out of 50 marks) are converted
to out of 25. The final merit list is arrived at after aggregating converted marks of Written Test and Group Discussion &Interview
out of 100 for each category. The selection will be made from the top merit ranked candidates in each category.
EMOLUMENTS : Presently, the starting basic pay is RS. 27,620/- (with 4 advance increments) in the scale of Rs. 23700-980/730560-1145/2-32850-1310/7-42020 applicable to Junior Management Grade Scale-I. The official will also be eligible for D.A,
H.R.A/Lease rental, C.C.A, Medical and other allowances & perquisites as per rules in force from time to time. The total
compensation per annum would be a minimum of Rs. 7.55 lacs and maximum of Rs. 12.93 lacs depending on place of posting
and other factors.
FEES
: Rs. 600.00 (Application Fee including intimation charges) [SC/ST/PWD Rs. 100.00 (Intimation Charges
only)] The payment can be made by using Debit Card/ Credit Card/ Internet Banking. Transaction charges for online
payment, if any, will be borne by the candidates.
Number of chances : General - 4 , General (PWD)- 7, OBC- 7, OBC (PWD)- 7, SC/SC(PWD)/ ST/ ST (PWD) - No Restriction
N.B. : The Candidate should have a valid e-mail ID. No hard copy of the Call-Letter / information handout will be sent by
post. Candidates will not be permitted to appear for the written examination without following documents : 1. Call letter for
written examination 2. Photo Identity proof in original 3. Photocopy of Photo-identity proof.
Cutoff Score : Each candidate will be required to obtain a minimum score in each test and also a minimum total score to be
considered to be shortlisted for interview.
GENERAL INFORMATION
i) Candidates are advised to take a printout of their system generated online application form after submitting the application.
ii) Candidates should satisfy themselves about their eligibility for the post applied for. The Bank would admit to the test all the
candidates applying for the posts with the requisite fee on the basis of the information furnished in the online application and shall
determine their eligibility only at the time of interview.
iii) Candidates are advised in their own interest to apply online much before the closing date and not to wait till the last date to
avoid the possibility of disconnection / inability / failure to log on to the website on account of heavy load on internet or website
jam.
iv) SBI does not assume any responsibility for the candidates not being able to submit their applications within the last date on
account of aforesaid reasons or for any other reason beyond the control of SBI.
v) Not more than one application should be submitted by a candidate. In case of multiple applications, only the last valid
(completed) application will be retained and the application fee /intimation charges paid for the other registrations will stand
forfeited. Multiple attendance/appearance by a candidate in examination and / or interview will be summarily
rejected/candidature cancelled.
vi) The possibility for occurrence of some problems in the administration of the examination cannot be ruled out completely, which
may impact test delivery and/ or result from being generated. In that event, every effort will be made to rectify such problems,
which may include
the conduct of another examination if, considered necessary.
vii) Candidates serving in Govt./Quasi Govt. offices, Public Sector undertakings including Nationalised Banks and Financial
Institutions are advised to submit 'No Objection Certificate' from their employer at the time of interview, failing which their
candidature may not be considered and travelling expenses, if any, otherwise admissible, will not be paid.
viii) In case of selection, candidates will be required to produce proper discharge certificate from the employer at the time of taking
up the appointment.
ix) Caste certificate issued by Competent Authority on format prescribed by the Government of India will have to be submitted by
the SC/ST candidates, if called for interview.
x) A declaration will have to be submitted in the prescribed format by candidates seeking reservation under OBC category stating
that he/she does not belong to the creamy layer as on 24.05.2016.
OBC certificate containing the 'Non-creamy layer' clause, issued during the period 01.04.2016 to the date of interview, should be
submitted by such candidates, if called for interview.
xi) Candidates are advised to keep their e-mail ID alive for receiving advices, viz. call letters/interview advices etc.
xii) Appointment of selected candidates is subject to his /her being declared medically fit as per the requirement of the Bank.
xiii) Any legal proceedings in respect of any matter of claim or dispute arising out of this advertisement and/or an application in
response thereto can be instituted only in Mumbai and courts/tribunals/forums at Mumbai only shall have sole and exclusive
jurisdiction to try any cause/dispute.
