The Ministry of Defence is going to close its UFO

Dan Did you read this, Sue? The Ministry of

Defence has announced that its going to
close down its UFO investigation unit after 50
years. They said that they couldnt justify the
expense.
Sue Really? Well, it isnt exactly a huge surprise.
Everyones been complaining for ages that
too much money is invested in space
exploration as it is.
Dan I think its a shame, though. The idea that
there might be other beings, perhaps even
people just like us, living in some far-off
galaxy is just fascinating. They might be trying
to contact us as we speak.
Sue It wouldnt be so great if they turned out to be
hostile, though, would it? How do you know
they arent intending to blitz us all? Why do
people assume that they would feel and act
just like us? Anyway, theyve probably already
tried to contact us but we just arent
sufficiently advanced to recognize or respond
to it.
Dan Hmm, maybe youre right. They might be
laughing at our feeble attempts to develop
faster computers. Logging onto machines that
are attached to wires must look very primitive.
Sue The good news is that technology is
developing very quickly. One futurologist said
that well be able to wear tiny microprocessors
that can interact with our environment, or can
turn our thoughts into instructions.
Dan Perhaps thats what the aliens have done, and
theyre helping us to evolve!

Writing
