OBSERVATION NOTES
Name of the School:Bitibut Integrated School

Location of the School:Bitibut, SapangDalagaMis. Occ.
Date of Visit: September 6, 2016

- A short recall done by the teacher about

their lesson a day before the new lesson
was introduced. She discussed about the
coral reefs and their functions. With
these, she expounded the idea by
allowing her pupils express their views.
The students participated actively and

then shared their thoughts about the

importance of the coral reefs. The
teacher, give an activity and divided the
class into four. The four groups presented
their work and the class ended well.

My Analysis:

1. What skills did you have which helped you prepare the materials? What
skills did you lack that made it difficult for you? (Technological Knowledge)
- The skills which helped me in preparing the materials are
resourcefulness, adaptability and creativity. The skills missing which
had set difficulties in preparing the materials are sorting the
materials and choosing the appropriateness of every material
concerning its usefulness.

2. Discuss some strategies on how you will use the materials you included
here in this episode. (Pedagogical Knowledge)
- The strategy that needs to be used on using the materials is the
proper utilization of the materials involved. This has come at hand
because the materials are merely useless when a person cans use it
in many ways he/she can.

3. How well do you know the topic you have chosen? (Content Knowledge)
Discuss the big ideas of this that you would want to focus on.
- I know the topic from its basic components up to its most complex
part. Knowing how to use the five senses is essentially needed by
an individual. Whatever situation occurs, the senses showing good
or bad condition an individual instantly knows how to get it done.

My Reflections/Insights:

1. Reflect how your technological knowledge (TK), pedagogical knowledge

(PK) and content knowledge (CK) worked together in fulfilling the tasks in this
episode.
- All of those have worked together to accomplish goals. The
coordination of every type of knowledge is crucial because without
the other one it cant achieve anything.

2. What are some of the things you can do to enhance and enrich your
technological, pedagogical, content knowledge (TPACK) to be able to
facilitate an active, interesting, learning and fun-filled learning environment
in the future?
- To browse internet frequently and to be in actual situation and
field where a type of knowledge can be activated.

My Analysis:
Use the Technology Integration Matrix to analyze the class you observed. In
what level of technology integration do you think the teacher operated?
Why?
-

It operated in moderated level. The teacher is using a more

progressive type of technology-driven methods.

Based on the Technology Integration Matrix, what is the characteristic of the

learning environment in the class that you observed? Point your observations
that justify your answer.
-

I found that the learning environment is stable. My

observation from the beginning up to the end is a proof that
the teacher have just arrayed the class and established a
founded environment.

Over-all, were the learning resources used effectively? Why? Why not? Give
your suggestions.
-

Yes, because it never been wasted for a moment. The materials

are excellently used and functioned well.

My Reflections/Insights:
1. Put yourself in the place of the teacher. What would you do similarly
and what would you do differently if you would teach the same lesson
to the same group of students? Why?
- I would be teaching in a different type of level. Since the
students are in 5th grade they supposed to have stock
knowledge which would help them in coping with the elevated
degree of reaching. The activities should be differently
treated.

My Learning Portfolio:
Include here picture/illustration of the materials used by the teacher.
Put your comments/annotations about what you observed.

Episode 6
CLASS OBSERVATION GUIDE

Read the ff. statements carefully before you observe.

1. What is the lesson about? What are the teachers objectives?

- The lesson is all about Subtracting Mixed Forms from Whole
Numbers. The teachers objective is to teach students on how
to deal with problems in fractio

2. Note the important concepts that the teacher is emphasizing.

- Active learning, hybrid learning, meta-cognitive awareness,
meta-affective awareness, self-regulated learning, growth
mindset, stereotype threat, community engaged learning and
service-learning, rhetoric situation grade norming/norming
session.

3. Note the skills that the teacher is developing in the learners.

- The teacher emphasizes the learning by imitating, by analyzing
and by creating.
My Analysis:
Using the information you got from observing the class, surf the internet for
electronic resources that will be useful in the teaching the same lesson. Evaluate the
resources you found. Fill out the form below.

My Reflections/Insights:
1. Describe your experience in surfing the internet for appropriate
electronic resources for the class? Did you find it easy or difficult?
- I find it interesting and amusing. The thing about the online
service and its accuracy. The electronic resources can easily be
use. Its easy and efficient. If theres any difficulty thats the
part where the tool is to be tested in real way.

2. How did you choose which electronic resources to include here? What
did you consider? Explain.
- By determining whether the target audience preferences. The
thing I considered the most is the audience because with them
the medium is described either effective or passive.

3. Reflect in your technology skills. What skills do you already have and what
skills would you continue to work on to be better at utilizing electronic
resources?
- I have computer literacy and communication skills in using
technology. Being knowledgeable to use new type of tools is what I
think the skill that needs to work over.

My Learning Portfolio:
For your portfolio, do at least one of the three suggested activities
below.

1. Visit www.teachnology.com or other teacher resource websites. Print

useful IMs (worksheets, visual aids, flash cards, rubrics, etc.) and include them
here. Indicate how they might be useful considering your major or area
of specialization.

- Provides plenty of guided and

independent practice for creating and reading bar graphs.

- This worksheet and lesson series has

students use bar models to help visualize word problems.

Why did you pick this MOOC?

-

Because it offers economic channel towards development of local

industries.

2. MOOC Title: Social Sciences

Provider:Coursera

Objectives of the MOOC:

Other possibilities include introducing students to potential employers and recruiters (with
student consent), tutoring, licensing, sponsorships and tuition fees

Content Outline:
Coursera is a venture-backed, for-profit, educational technology company that offers massive open
online courses (MOOCs). Coursera works with universities and other organizations to make some of
their courses available online, offering courses in subjects, such
as: physics, engineering, humanities, medicine, biology, social
sciences, mathematics, business, computer science, digital marketing, data science, and other
subjects.

Why did you pick this MOOC?

-

It offers wide range of opportunities in studying foreign type of

curriculum.

3. MOOC Title: Atmospheric Sciences

Provider:National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL)

NPTEL is a curriculum building exercise and is directed towards providing learning materials
in science and engineering by adhering to the syllabi of All India Council for Technical Education and
the slightly modified curricula of major affiliating Universities

Content Outline:
The National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL), a project funded by
the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), provides e-learning through online Web and
Video courses in Engineering, Sciences, Technology, Management and Humanities.

Why did you pick this MOOC?

-

Engineering courses and an institution where it is taught is something

that cant be seen easily and so this MOOC creates accessibility toward
further study in engineering and related courses.

My Reflections/Insights:
1. How can MOOCs help you in the future career as a professional teacher
and as a lifelong learner?
- MOOC extends the narrow path of learning not just a learner
but also as a teacher. If not to this type of schooling no one
can make emphasis of learning with the use of online service.
2. What did you learn from the way the providers use technology to teach
in the MOOCs?
- They put exactness on aspects learned insufficiently by
teachers. They broaden the way teaching in school can offer.
3. How will you prepare yourself for MOOCs, as a learner, and as a
teacher who may someday teach a MOOC?
- I will learn more of teaching through online basis. In some way,
I would enhance my capabilities in filling inadequacy in
simplifying teaching strategies.
My Learning Portfolio:
Make a listing of MOOC providers (like Coursera, Edx, Udemy, Udaciti,
etc.). Under each one, include the most relevant MOOCs they offer for
teachers. You may print their icons and course listings. Highlights the ones

you want to enroll in the future. Or if it is already possible, enroll in one

MOOC and document here what you learned and maybe paste your
certificate of completion here.
