S.A.K Shuaiba (Tender No. CP ~ 06 / 2011) SECTION 15500 GENERAL PROVISIONS FOR HVAC WORKS PART 1— GENERAL. 4.01 GENERAL CONDITIONS OF CONTRACT A. The Contractor shall become familiar with other sections of the Specifications affecting work of this trade. B. This section establishes the requirements for complete mechanical services, which includes cooling, heating, ventilation, drainage, and plumbing systems. Refer to drawings for locations and details. C. Provide all necessary materials, labour, equipment, tools, appliances, services, hoisting, scaffolding, supports and supervision to provide complete safe installations in conformity with applicable codes, Authorities having jurisdiction and the Contract Documents D. The contractor shall ensure during the tender stage that no discrepancy occurs between the specifications and drawings. Should discrepancies be discovered post-tender stage, and then the most onerous requirement shall be deemed to be included. 1.02 SCOPE OF WORK The particular requirement of HVAC shall be as listed below, indicated on tender drawings and described elsewhere in the specification. Refer to schedule of equipment for duties and performances. A. Air-Conditioning: Provision of DX Packaged and Split units and air duct systems; constant volume terminal units, fan coil units, Condensate drains Pipes, diffusers, grilles, etc. as shown in the drawing, B. Ventilation: Provide air supply and exhaust systems at various locations in the project including fresh air supply, toilets exhaust, kitchens exhaust and kitchens makeup fresh air. Refer to tender drawings for locations and schedule of equipment for duties C. Provision of all fixings, support, noise control items, electrical supply and connections, pipes and duct connection and ancillary items required to form complete and safe working systems are deemed to be included, f & SQEC Document - 11/2 SECTION 15500/1 New Admin Building at LPG Filling Plant Kuwait Oil Tanker Co. S.A.K Shuaiba (Tender No. CP ~ 06 / 2011) 1.03 SYSTEMS DESCRIPTION The description below highlights the specific requirement of mechanical systems within the scope of this project. Reference to all sections of the specification, tender drawings and schedule of equipment should be made to ascertain the entire necessary requirement for the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of mechanical services. 1.04 AIR-CONDITIONING All Air-Conditioning systems shall provide cooling, heating and air filtration. Heating shail be by electric heaters and described here in the specifications. Cooling shall be by chilled water coils. The air-handling units are located on the roof, on top of toilet slabs and in the basement. The minimum fresh air volume flow rate shall be as shown on the schedule of Air Handling Units 1.05 VENTILATION A. Small Kitchens and Toilet Exhaust System: Central exhaust system shall be utilised. Refer to drawings for identification of various systems. On/Off contro! monitoring shall be by the BMS. For individual small extract fans serving one room operation, provide manual on/off control switch as those for lighting but with delay switch timer. B. Cafeteria & Kitchen Ventilation: Kitchen exhaust system incorporating purpose made exhaust hood with grease filters. Exhaust fan shall be bifurcated type and suitable for high temperature application. 1.09 DESIGN REQUIREMENTS A. Outdoor Design Conditions for cooling and heating loads calculations are in accordance with MEW: 1. Summer: 48°C dry bulb; 25.5°C wet bulb. 2. Winter: 4.5°C dry bulb; 2.0°C wet bulb. B. _ Internal Design Conditions: 1. Summer: —23.9°C + 1° C dry bulb; 50% + 10 % Relative Humidity. 2 Winter: 22°C + 1° C dry bulb; no humidity control. C. S.A.K Shuaiba (Tender No. CP - 06 / 2011) D. 4.40 OrA aa ee Noise Criteria : NC Executive and private Office 25-35 Conference rooms 25-35 Corridors and Lobbies 40-45 Services and support 35-45 Restaurant 35-40 Toilets & kitchens 35-45, System Performance: All systems shall be supplied, installed, tested, commissioned and made to perform in an efficient and safe manner in order to achieve design parameters stipulated in all the sections of the specification and the schedule of equipment. SUBMITTALS FOR REVIEW Submit product data, samples and shop drawings in accordance with Section 01300 and as detailed below: Manufacturer's printed brochures and catalogues or as required by the Engineer with relevant information high lighted (or equivalent information struck out), along with write up of selection criteria Complete building heat load calculations to be submitted for Engineer's approval before commencing on drawings. Workshop Drawings: Submit 4 copies of clear, blue type and one mother print copy. The drawings shall be scale 1:100 for plans, 1:50 for side view sections, 1:20 for details such as pump room, focused details, and 1:10 for product items such as valves, pieces, ete. Clear legend will be accompanied all drawings to clarify all items, dimensions, abbreviations, parts, etc. Shop Drawings will include all details of installations coordination’s with other services, supports, changes, deviations from design works, explanations, etc. No work will be started before approval of Shop Drawings with official stamps. Equipment installation and piping layout double line drawings of plant rooms. Clearly indicating all fittings, supports, valves and control gear to a scale 1:20 ‘Submit sections and elevations as required by the Engineer. Typical floor plans indicating shafts, riser locations etc.. toa scale of 1:50. Builders work layout plans to a scale of 1:100/1:50 Electrical wiring diagrams (NTS) and panel installation details (1:20). Test and performance certificates of equipment, where required. Shop drawings for controls and control systems, including diagrams and _description of the sequence of operation. Product Data: Full details of all systems and components, including but not limited to: 1, Chilled water system including chillers, pumps, pipes and_ fittings pressurisation and chemical dosing system. All HVAC equipment such as: Fans, Air Handling Units, Fan Coil Units etc Control dampers, Air diffusion equipment, and fire dampers. Ductwork construction and Accessories. 2. 3. 4 5. Thermal Insulation and Acoustic lining. 6. Vibration isolation and flexible connections on relevant equipment. 7. Chilled & Condensate water Pipes material, valves and pipe work accessories. 8. Sealant, Adhesives and paints. —. Relevant calculations in format required by Municipality, Kuwait Fire Department and Ministry of Electricity and Water. F. Calculations of hydraulic systems’ resistance based on shop drawings and motor ratings. Indicate discrepancies between calculated values and those specified. G. Spatial requirements of items to be furnished, together with alternative arrangements for equipment, ductwork, piping and accessories wherever required. H. Submit project ‘As-Built’ prepared from shop drawings for all Mechanical systems including diagrams. Prepare and submit for review method statement for: Pressure testing of piped and ducted systems. Testing and commissioning procedures for all mechanical systems. Installation of specialist work such as chemical dosing system Excavation and temporary works. General safety procedure. OR eONan ‘Show all technical data (length, flow rate, pressures, etc.) in metric units. 4.11 SUBMITTALS FOR INFORMATION A. Manufacturer's Installation Instructions: Indicate special procedures and assembly of components. Manufacturer's certification that Products meet or exceed Specification. Certification of approvals by local authorities such as MEW, MPW and KF; “where required. D. Perform Work in accordance with regulations of Ministry of public works, Ministry of Electricity and Water, KNPC, Ministry of Defence (Shelter) and KFD. 1.13 ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS A. Use equipment and tools fitted with suppressers where necessary to limit radio interference. 4.14 SCHEDULING A. Schedule testing and adjusting to ensure a complete installation ready for satisfactory operation B. Allow minimum of two weeks for testing and adjusting. 1.18 CO-ORDINATION A. Study all drawings and specifications and familiarise with the structural and architectural and work of other trades. B. Ensure that the work under this section will not interfere with those of other trades and are compatible with the architectural finishes prior to placing orders, fabrication and installation C. Co-ordinate with electrical works for the exact power requirements and location and type of interference. Furnish all information as required by MEW, for obtaining approvals. D. Furnish templates, patterns, setting out plans and other items for incorporation in the works. Ensure timely placement of sleeves, inserts and the like, E. Where work is installed on close proximity to or will interfere with work of other trades, assist in working out satisfactory space arrangements. Prepare composite shop drawings to a suitable scale, showing how the work is installed in relation to the work of other trades. F. Ensure the sufficiency of dimensions of plant areas, door ways, etc... and suitability of slabs and other structural members for placement, operation and maintenance of equipment. G. Resolve conflicts in requirements with other trades. Refer to the Engineer, only those that cannot be solved without changes to structure or those, which involves major changes to system design. H. Provide hooks, rails or other items to allow for hoisting or movemel equipment in plant areas. SQEC Document - 1IT/2_ SECTION 15500/5 ‘New Admin Building at LPG Filling Plant Kuwait Oil Tanker Co. S.A.K Shuaiba (Tender No. CP ~06 / 2011) |. Furnish data on heat loss to surrounding from equipment in air-conditioned areas, to the HVAC trade. 4.16 OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE DATA A. Submit hard bound copies of "Operation and Maintenance Manual" in accordance with Section 01300, with complete data for each piece of equipment installed, 1. The manual shall contain: a) Table of contents. b) Fire protection materials and drawings submittal with the Engineer's and KFD approval. ©) Manufacturer's installation instructions. d) Manufacturer's internal wiring diagrams. e) Manufacturer's assembly details. f) Replacements parts/materials, number listing and description. 9) Preventive maintenance schedules listing frequency of service and or replacement. i h) Lubricants, commercial equivalents schedules of use. i) Name and address of manufacturer's sales and service agencies and local representative/distributor including telephone and telex numbers. i) Name and address of Contractor's maintenance department including emergency contact telephone number. 2. Arrange the contents of the manual in section with tags. B. _ Instructions for start up, routine operation and troubleshooting. 1.47 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Provide material and equipment manufactured and tested in accordance with the relevant British or International Standards. 1.18 DELIVERY, STORAGE & HANDLING A. Box crate or otherwise completely enclose and protect all equipment during shipment, handling and storage. B. Store equipment in clean dry space. Protect equipment from dirt, fumes, construction debris traffic and operations Protect against impact, abrasions, discoloration and other damage. moo Repaint to satisfaction of the Supervising Engineer all painted surfaces, which are damaged prior to acceptance. Provide protection to equipment during the period between installation and ‘commissioning to prevent seizure of moving parts. 4.19 GUARANTEE AND WARRANTIES A. Manufacturers shall provide their standard warrantee and warranted for products furnished in the Specification. However, such guarantee shall be in addition to and not in lieu of all other liabilities, which manufacturers and the Contractor may have by law or by other provisions of the Contract Documents. These Warranties and guaranties shall not be less than two (2) years. B. Any fault or failure due to defective or improper material, equipment, workmanship or Contractor's design which may develop shall be made good forthwith, by and at the expense of the Contractor, including ail other damage done to areas, materials and other systems resulting from such fault or failure. C. The Contractor shail guarantee that all elements of the systems are of sufficient capacity to meet the performance requirements stipulated in or implied by the Contract Documents. 1.20 SPARE PARTS, TOOLS AND MAINTENANCE EQUIPMENT A. The Contractor shall provide spare parts, tools and maintenance equipment pursuant to his obligations to maintain the systems specified herein throughout the Contract Maintenance Period. B. The Contractor shail provide with the tender a separate priced list of spare recommended for the maintenance period identified in this contract. This spare parts list will be recommended by the manufacturer for fire protection works and valid for a two years period, but whose total cost des not form part of the tender lump sum. C. If the Contractor does not remedy any defect that arises during the maintenance period within a reasonable time, the Engineer may arrange for the work to be done at the contractor's expense. D. All spare parts, tools and maintenance equipment shall be provided in original packing, clearly labelled and referenced. Provide complete schedules of spare parts and maintenance equipment clearly cross-referenced with the "as-built" record drawings and with operation and maintenance instructions manuals. E. All spare parts, tools and maintenance equipment shall be as recommended by the equipment manufacturer and shall be subject to the final approval of __-the Engineer. a a Document - IIT /2 SECTION 15500/7 ‘New Admin Building at LPG Filling Plant Kuwait Oil Tanker Co. S.A.K Shuaiba (Tender No. CP - 06/2011) PART 2~ PRODUCTS 2.01 GENERAL A. Materials and Equipment: Manufacturer's standard products; essentially duplicating materials and equipment that have been in satisfactory use for a minimum five years. Obtain units of the same class of equipment from a single manufacturer. Materials shall not support bacteria. Acoustic Insulation and Sound Deadening Materials: Free of animal hair. mo 9D Parts or items of plant, pipe work connections, etc. shall be interchangeable with corresponding parts, etc., in similar items of plant, where practicable. F. Supply equipment requiring electrical connection with appropriate fixtures attached, where practicable G. No CFC blown or contained material is acceptable. H. No lead contained material is acceptable. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.01 EXAMINATION A. Verify space, dimensions and conditions affecting work B. Verify work does not clash or interfere with clearance required for other work. C. Notify Engineer of likely interference before commencing work. D. Check Survey, Architectural, and Structural, Electrical and Mechanical drawings and details noting location of shafts and co-ordinate with the work of other Sections. 3.02 PREPARATION A. Clean and degrease duets, fittings and flanges thoroughly before assembly. 3.03 INSTALLATION A. __ Install work in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. B. ~“Furhishrequired offsets, fittings, traps, drains, as shown or implied on drawings ‘and to meet the needs for venting and draining of systems accordance with good practice. S.A.K Shuaiba (Tender No. CP —06 / 2011) c. 3.04 Provide accessible means for lubricating equipment including permanent lubrication “lifetime” bearings. Install equipment and apparatus such as motors, fans, panels, controllers, etc. to be readily accessible for operation and maintenance. Place valves, traps, strainers, vents, automatic controls and dampers in accessible locations. Install equipment and accessories to operate without objectionable noise and vibration. Provide control dampers where noted and required for complete regulating control of systems, fixtures and equipment. PAINTING Do not paint vitreous enamelled surfaces. Wire brush metal surfaces, clean and apply an appropriate undercoating or treatment before final coats are applied. Verify paint applied to heated surfaces is suitable for the temperature. Replace bright or machined surfaces which have become pitted or marked by rust. Make good damaged shop-finished equipment to match manufacturer's finish, Touch-up scratches in painted surfaces in matching paint Repaint the complete surface of equipment or material damaged to an extent that cleaning or touch-up paint will not restore the original finish. ON-SITE QUALITY CONTROL Carefully check each piece of apparatus for completeness of connections, accessories, wiring and controls and place in operation, test and adjust. Obtain written permission to start and test permanent equipment and systems. Operate each piece of equipment, including motors and controls, continuously for minimum 2 hours in the presence of the Engineer. Correct defects; repeat tests until no defects are disclosed; leave equipment clean and ready for use. After completion of initial trial test, execute Reliability Tests for plant a equipment. Give Engineer 7 days notice before commencing tests. SQEC Document - 11/2 SECTION 15500/9 New Admin Building at LPG Filling Plant Kuwait Oil Tanker Co. $.A.K Shuaiba (Tender No. CP - 06/2011) F. Each reliability test shall last for 31 consecutive days during which time the whole of the plant being tested shall operate continuously without adjustment or repair. G. Repeat reliability test after repairs and adjustments (other than normal tuning adjustments) have been carried out, until system runs as intended. H. Run systems under full summer and winter load conditions. 3.06 ADJUSTING Adjust valves, traps, controls and equipment to ensure proper operation. Regulate fiushing tanks for the water closets and urinals in accordance with manufacturer's instructions, to ensure the optimum flushing process. p> 3.07 CLEANING A Clean apparatus, accessories and piping after installation and just prior to Substantial Completion. Replace all disposable filters, clean and wash permanent filters and strainer prior to hand over. B. Vacuum and clean all parts of equipment and material, upon completion of installation and leave surfaces free of foreign matter. 3.08 PROTECTION A. Protect completed work and equipment. Close ends of work with purpose made temporary covers or plugs during construction to prevent entry of obstructing material. 3.09 INSPECTION, TESTS, AND ADJUSTMENTS A. During the manufacturer (at Contractor's premises only) and installation and after completion of works, the system, section of the system or its components shall be tested by the Contractor/specialist subcontractor in the presence of the Engineer, as directed below or elsewhere. The Contractor shall procure all testing instruments and accessories and bear all costs in connection with the same. 1. Basic material for conformity with the specified standard 2. Supports and anchors for ability to withstand required loads. 3. Pumping equipment for the specified flow, head controls, safety interlocks and alarms, noise criteria etc. 4. Piping in genera! for line, level and slopes 5. __ Standpipes for the required flow and pressure at the hydraulic remote points. 6. __ Fire alarm system for water flow detection and minimum for actuation. Provide the services of a competent Engineer to supervise the commissioning of all equipment and to train the Owner's Personnel in all aspects of the same during a five (5) working days period, during normal working hours. Allow for all expenses in connection with the above B. Give minimum one-week's written notice and obtain the Owner's written consent, prior to such demonstrations, C. Proceed with the system demonstration, only after substantial completion of the project. D. Co-ordinate with the Kuwait Fire Department to facilitate their visit to site, test and demonstrate the system for their approval. Thermal insulation to chilled and hot water pipelines. B. Thermal insulation to supply, return and treated fresh-air ducts. 1.02 SUBMITTALS FOR REVIEW A. Product Data: Manufacturer's catalogue information and data sheets covering items specified B. Thermal Conductivity: To BS 874 and BS 2972 Insulation Between Pipe work And Support Types A and B: Heavy density (130-150 kg/m?) Type C: Rigid load bearing type. Ductwork Insulation: Fibre Glass flexible rolls normal bulk density 24 kg/m’. Thermal conductivity not exceeding 0.04 WimK (ref. 50 °C mean temperature) Rigid Fibre Glass insulation normal bulk density 32 kg/m3 for ductwork exposed to outside Facing: Aluminium foil-laminated paper, 0.05 mm thick, integral with sectional material securely attached to section to provide a hinge on the longitudinal side with overlaps. Adhesive: BS 5970 Section 2 Clause 8.2. Sheet Reinforcement: Aluminium flat or profile sheeting. Fix directly to insulation. Secure lapped joints by means of pop rivets matching aluminium straps at maximum spacing of 225 mm. Seal all parts against moisture and make joints shed water. Mesh Reinforcement: Galvanised wire netting to BS1485. Not less than 0.9 mm wire diameter and 25 mm mesh. FABRICATION ~ PIPEWORK INSULATION Pipe work Insulation Type A: Rigid, foil-faced insulation, Exposed or within Plant areas chilled water pipe insulation shall be coated with Foster 35-00/45-00 mastic over Glass Fibre Membrane and then cladded with aluminium jacketing of 0.5 mm thick smooth/corrugated Alloy 3003/3015 backed with 40 Ibs. Polykraft paper on one side as moisture barrier as per ASTM 8209. Manufacturer: PABCO/CHILDERS/PROFILES Pipe work Insulation Type B: Rigid, foil-faced insulation, with mesh reinforcement. Spread of Flame of Finished Insulation: BS 476 Part 7 - Class 1. Class 0 surface rating of building regulations. Where fire and surface spread of flame certificates relate to factory made products, ensure certificate remains valid when the finish is site applied. Provide an electrical bonding terminal suitable for connection of 6-mm? maximum conductors. FABRICATION - DUCTWORK Use integral facing for lightweight grades intended only for concealed work. Internal joints where authorized shall be of the butt strap pattern to give a smooth internal surface with no reduction in cross-section area of the duct. Openings and ductwork ends shall be covered by 1000 gauge polythene sheeting and duct tape before leaving the works. The ducting shall remain sealed until the actual installation and all spigot openings shall remain sealed until the fitting of grilles or diffusers Ductwork runs carrying humid air, such as kitchen canopy extract systems shall use "Reverse Joints". Horizontal ducts shall fall towards the intake point and special care taken in sealing all joints. Vertical risers and sets down shall have a sump with a drain point and plug. Where ductwork penetrates external walls and floors, a flange shall be fixed and sealed to the ductwork and wall suitable for flashing by others. Penetrations through flat roofs shall be arranged to be completely watertight and to allow water to drain freely on to the roof. For flat and pitched roofs a cravat shall be provided with a skirt extended over the roof flashing. Where welding is carried out, the entire section shall be galvanized after manufacture. Ductwork passing through walls, floors and partitions shall be fitted with purpose made galvanized sheet steel sleeves of a minimum of 2 gauges thicker than the ductwork and of a length to suit structural elements. ADJUSTING AND CLEANING Clean duct system and force air at high velocity through duct to remove accumulated dust. To obtain sufficient air, clean half the system at a time. Protect equipment, which may be harmed by excessive dirt with temporary filters, or bypass during cleaning. Clean duct systems with high power vacuum machines. Proprietary flexible joints shall be fitted in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations. AIR LEAKAGE TESTING Air leakage testing where required by the Supervising Consultant shall be carried out strictly in accordance with HVCA Specification DW/142, Appendix B and HVCA DW/143. All system components including air-handling units shall be included in the tests. Test high and medium velocity/pressure systems only. For low velocity ductwork, where visual inspection indicate bad jointing the supervising engineer shall request a pressure test to be performed to satisfy himself that ductwork comply with standard. The system shall be tested to the pressures and leakage classifications as given in the "Ductwork Classification” Clause of this part of the Specification. Diiling or welding of structural steelwork shall not be carried out, unless particularly specified or with prior written agreement. All ductwork and associated equipment shall be supported from the building ‘structure. Drop rods and bolts shall be cut off close to the nuts. Drop rods and supports shall be clear of ductwork insulation thickness. Allow for the necessary steelwork adapters, bolts, nuts, washers, screws and plugs for the fixing of supports including drilling and plugging for same. ‘Structural steelwork shall not be drilled for ductwork supports. Steel cleats shall be welded on motor bases to lock them in aligned position Foundation and coupling bolts shall be tightened and locked. Fan shaft shall be checked for free rotation. Electrical continuity and insulation of motor and the control panel shall be checked by megger. The tripping element of the circuit breaker shall be checked for correct selection and proper installation. Timing of star-delta change over, if used, shall be adjusted to the period recommended by the motor manufacturer. ‘System power supply voltage shall be checked and all other checks outlined in the control operation manual performed, before energising the controller. The units shall not be operated in automatic mode, temporary or permanent; until ductwork is clean, bearings lubricated, and fan has been test run under observation. The following shall be executed to start the system up: The direction of rotation of the fan shall be checked and corrected, if necessary, by momentary operation of the start button. The fan shall be started on manual mode The motor full load current shall be checked by manipulating the air flow. The fan and motor bearings shall be checked for signs of overheating. Ducts shall be checked for signs for air leakage and rectified. The temperatures do not take into consideration heat produced in or by the equipment itself whether electrical or otherwise. Motors All motors shall be of a fully covered type, cooled ventilation and liable to operate continuously in a damp tropical climate. All motors shall be squirrel cage induction type, with TEFC enclosure unless otherwise stated on particular schedules (Fire Pumps) or dictated by Selection (canned rotor type for hot water circulating pumps, oil cooled type for submersible pumps etc.) Provide anti-condensation heaters in starter windings for fire pumps and sump pump motors, which are subjected to prolonged disuse. The bearings of the motors shall be of a type requiring just one lubrication per year. The ends of the windings shall reach a terminal box and arrangement shall be such as to allow for an easy permutation of the two phases leads without upsetting the compound when this is done at the ends of the cable. Terminal boxes shall be fixed with a junction box, a cable inlet and an adaptor-plate such as required with necessary adjustments (cable pincers, etc) to suit the specified cable type. Motors shall be supplied with foundations, bolts and sliding rails if necessary. Rotation and color of the phases shall comply with BS-158. All motors shall have windings with Class B temperature rise and Class F insulation, Winding bridges, where used shall be tinned copper of adequate size and supplied by the manufacturer. Start-up of Motors All starters shall be of a manufacture meeting BS-587 and insulated with materials of Class B. Each motor shall be supplied with the required and appropriate starter subject to specified indication to the contrary. Motor starters shall be protected from dust and vermin in a cast iron or steel sheet cabinet designed to be fixed to a wall, a floor or a panel according to requirements. Starters shall be supplied with their push buttons and a triple pole isolator interlocked with the opening of the cabinet All contacts of starters exposed to the air shall be strong and of silver or platinum, and all contactors as well as starter equipment shall be designed for working of 40 operation per hour. Should the control equipment and the accessory appliances be supplied by a source other than the source of the motor circuit, insulation shall include an accessory contact so that should the motor be insulated, any source accessory to control equipment and to the motor shalll also be insulated for all poles. All push buttons shall be of non-hygroscopic material and shall not swell Contacts of all switches and push buttons shall be strong and have-cleaning action when working. All starters shall have a capacity of 40 operations per hour and shall be of an automatic contactor type unless specified otherwise. All starters shall be supplied with accessory contacts adapted to a low D.C voltage so as to have an "ON" "OF" indication at a distance. Starters shall be supplied with cable glands if necessary. All thermal overioad relays shall be automatically compensated for variations in ambient temperature. e. —Allcontacts shall be of silver, platinum or other approved substance. f. When servicing this equipment, the Electrician must be capable of shutting down the motor on the spot. These motors shall be equipped with labels engraved in Arabic and English "Caution" Motors start automatically. Motors, which are installed in mechanical rooms more than 20m. away from the feeding switchboard shall be also fitted with a service switch and an additional label. WIRES, CABLES AND TERMINATIONS Use stranded copper, PVC installed color coded wires of appropriate size for all power and contro! wiring in conduits, trunking and panels. Use stranded copper, PVC/SWAJPVC single core or multicore cables for supply to motors, laid on cable trays. Use brass cable glands with armored retainer at entry of cables to terminal boxes and panels. Use crimped on, brass terminal lugs for termination of wires and cables. Use slip-on ferrules and number all control wire terminals for quick identification. CONDUIT, TRUNKING AND CABLE TRAYS: Use heavy duty galvanized iron conduits for exposed wiring. Air filters shall be used for outdoor air and recirculated air and shail be tested in accordance with ASHRAE Test Standards 52-76. ‘Type 1: Dry Type Cleanable (Washable) Panel Filters Shall be of metallic type, constructed of galvanized steel! and designed to provide maximum arrestance, large dust holding capacity and low resistance The filter media shall be constructed of layers of crimped corrugated wire screen and expanded galvanized steel to provide large filtering area and shall be held in a heavy gauge galvanized steel frame capable to withstand shock and abuse. The filter shall be sized for maximum air velocity of 1.5 m/sec. with initial press drop of not more than 25 Pa and average arrestance of 75%. The final rated pressure drop shall be 100 Pa This type of filters may be used as a pre-filter to a higher efficiency filter. Type 2: Grease Type Washable Filter (Not applicable) Shall be permanent, washable heavy-duty type. The filter media shall be constructed of multiple layers of crimped, corrugated galvanized steel wire and expanded galvanized steel arranged to provide thousands of small progressive baffles, to ensure uniform air flow and maximum grease holding capacity. The filter media shall be held in a heavy gauge galvanized steel frame designed to withstand shock and abuse. These filters shall be used in .commercial kitchens, in hotels, institutions and restaurants, to reduce fire hazards and prolong the service life of fans, motors and other mechani equipments. S.A.K Shuaiba (Tender No. CP — 06 / 2011) Cc. ‘Type 3: Disposable Panel Filters (Not Applicable) The filter media shall consist of continuous filament glass fibre of progressive density construction. The air entering side shall have an open weave fibre pattem with large diameter fibres. The fibre diameters shall become smaller and the weave shall become progressively tighter from the air entering to the leaving side of the media. This construction allows dirt to penetrate deep into the media, utilizing its full depth. Metal retainers shall be placed on both sides of the media pad to provide support as resistance increases. The media pad and retainers shall be contained in a sturdy chipboard frame for dependable operation. The filter thickness shall be minimum 50 mm. The filter shall be sized for a maximum air velocity of 2.54 m/sec. with initial pressure drop of not more than 50 Pa and final pressure drop of 125 Pa. The average arrestance shall be 75-80 percent. This type of filter may be used as a prefilter to a higher efficiency filter. Type 4: Bag Filters (Not Applicable) It shall be of dry, extended surface pocket type consisting of 16 gauge galvanized stee! holding frame and replaceable filter. Holding frames shall be predrilled for convenient assembly into banks and shall be installed to provide service from the air-intake side. Holding frames shall be equipped with factory installed special high temperature gaskets and heavy duty rotary spring type latches which fasten across the comers of the filter to force the filter firmly against the gaskets. Replaceable air filters shall consist of rigid rust-resistant metal headers to which individual pockets of filter media are attached. The media shall be made from ultra fine fiberglass supported on the air leaving side by a protective media backing. The bag filter shall be designed for a face velocity of 2.54 m/sec. Bag filters are available in different efficiency ranges. Provide permanently gasketed framing members to prevent bypass of unfiltered air. If vertical support members are required to prevent deflection of horizontal members, install so as not to interfere with prefilters, removable from front, or removable from back afterremoval of after-filters. Provide factory-installed positive sealing device for each row of filters, to insure seal between gasketed filter elements. Provide hardware necessary for field assembly. Side servicing Housings: Provide factory-assembled side servicing housing with flanges for insertion into ductwork system as indicated. Construct of 16 gage galvanized steel. Use only instruments, which have the maximum field measuring accuracy and are best suited to the function being measured PATCHING MATERIALS Except as otherwise indicated, use same products as used for installation for patching holes in insulation, ductwork and housings which have been cut or drilled for test purposes, including access for testing instruments, attaching jigs, and similar purposes. At Tester's option, plastic plugs with retainers may be used to patch drilled holes in ductwork and housings. Refer to other relevant Sections of the HVAC Installation for materials to be used for patching of holes in insulation, ductwork and housings which have been cut or drilled for test purposes. Measure the amperes of all fan motors before system balance is started and take proper steps to correct and report and overloads. Do not continue System Balance if any conditions are observed that are hazardous to the air system, This shall be reported before proceeding further. Verify all outlets for compliance with design requirements. Report any variations before starting System Balance Supply Fans Set the fan RPM to provide design total CFM within acceptable limits and/or required static pressure to operate the system Fan speed shall not exceed the maximum allowable RPM as established by the fan manufacturer. The final setting of fan RPM shall not result in overloading the fan motor in any mode of operation, Dampers shall be modulated, and the amperes of the supply fan motor overloading can occur. Measure the amperes in the full cooling, heating and economizer modes to determine the maximum brake horsepower. After System Balancing, record the following values: a Fan RPM b. Motor voltage and amperes. c. Entering static pressure. d. Leaving static pressure. Set final RPM of the fan to supply the required CFM with filters artificially restricted to stimulate 50% loading. Verify that the fan motor will not be overloaded when the system is operating with unrestricted, clean filters in place. When applicable, final fan settings shall be based on rated wet cooling coil resistance, Final RPM of the supply measure static pressure a follows: a. Static pressure leaving the fan as far downstream from the fan as is practical, but shall be upstream of any restrictions in the duct (such as duct turns), Do not take reading directly at the fan outlet or through the flexible connection. b. Static pressure entering a single inlet fan in the inlet duct upstream of any flexible connection and downstream of any duct restrictions. ©. Obtain final air quantities without generating noise and without drafts. Include in the readings and tests of diffusers, grilles and registers required velocity (FPM) and test resultant velocity, required CFM and test resultant CFM after adjustments. ea9om Filters: Under final balanced conditions, measure and record static pressure entering and leaving each filter bank. Coils and Other Devices Under final balanced conditions, measure and record static pressure entering and leaving each coil bank. Dry bulb for heating Automatic Dampers: In cooperation with the Automatic Temperature Control manufacturer's representative, set adjustments of automatically operated dampers to operate as specified, indicated and or noted. Check all controls for proper calibration and list all controls requiring adjustment by controls installers. Mixed Air Control Restrict as necessary manual balancing dampers in return, outside and/or relief air connections so the system supplies and returns essentially the same CFM in any mode of modulation. Observed the start-up of medium and high pressure systems to check that no dangerous conditions exist. At completion of balancing, at least one branch duct balancing damper shall be fully open. 3. Determine by pitot tube traverse unless impractical to do so, airflow quantity of the fan. Take traverse as close to the fan as allowed by the AABC or approved equal standards. 4. Measure static pressure at the following points: At the mixing plenum of return air and outside air. Between filter and cooling coil Between cooling coil and fan. At the fan discharge Down stream of reheat coil (for reheat system only). When the quantity cannot be obtained by pitot tube traverse, the summation of the outlet quantities shall be used as the total CFM of the fan. Information shall be so noted on the data sheet. ea9cDn 3.03 RETURN AND EXHAUST AIR SYSTEMS A. Preparation for System Balance 1. Measure the motor amperes of all fan motors before System Balance is begun, and take proper steps to correct and report any overloads before proceeding with the work. B.
