New Parishioners: Welcome to our St. Patricks Parish faith community! Please pick
up a Welcome Package from a Greeter and introduce yourself to our pastor.

Heavenly Father, on Thanksgiving Day, we bow our hearts to You and pray.
We give You thanks for all youve done, especially for the gift of Jesus, your
Son. For beauty in nature, Your glory we see; for joy and health, friends
and family. For daily provision, Your mercy and care. These are the
blessings You graciously share. So today we offer this response of praise
with a promise to follow you all of our days.

World Food Day 2016: Because the right to food is a basic human right! World Food
Day is a day of action against hunger. This day is promoted by the Food and Agriculture
Organization. The Church is concerned about the issue of hunger in the world,
remembering the words of Jesus on the last judgement of nations, ...I was hungry and
you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink... (Mt 25.35)

World Mission Sunday 2016: This year, World Mission Sunday will take place on
October 23. This is a worldwide collection for the missionary Church that provides
emergency aid when disaster strikes, cares for refugees in war torn countries, and
provides rural and health clinics and transportation for priests, catechists, religious and
lay pastoral workers. It provides financial support for the daily needs of all missionaries.
Please pray for the missions and be generous on World Mission Sunday.
Stewardship Reflection

Has none but this foreigner returned to give thanks to God?

(Luke 17:18)
Most of us live easy lives. We have food, shelter and clothing. We go on vacation
every year and own a car or two. Most of us take this all for granted. Did you ever
notice that people with the least amount of possessions are usually the most grateful?
Shouldnt this be the other way around? Take time every day and thank God for all He
has given you.

Upcoming Events & Meetings:

Baptism preparation session on Wed., October 12 at 7:00 pm.

CWL will meet on Wednesday, October 12 at 7:30 pm.

The rich suffer want and go hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack

What does it mean to be a practising Catholic? The Church says we must

Parish Office Hours:

observe the 10 Commandments; ascent to Church teaching; and do our best to follow
the 5 precepts of the Catholic Church. The 5 Precepts of the Church are the very
necessary minimum for life (our connection with Jesus and the Church) and are found in
the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC 2041-2043).

1. Going to Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation. The Holy

Days of Obligation in Canada are Christmas Day and the Feast of Mary,
the Mother of God (January 1st). That is approximately 55 hours a year
that we are asked to attend Mass.
2. Go to confession at least once a year.
3. Receive Holy Communion at least once every year during the
Easter season.
4. Observe the prescribed days of fasting and abstinence. There are
only two days of fasting in the whole year Ash Wednesday and Good
Friday. Days of abstinence are Fridays throughout Lent and Ash
Wednesday (means that we avoid meat on these days).
5. Provide for the material needs of the Church according to your
ability. Whatever you can do, help the Church out.

Vincentians across Canada want to make you aware that October 17 is the International
Day for the Eradication of Poverty. In a country as wealthy as ours, 4.9 million
Canadians, of 1 in 7 still struggle to make ends meet: to pay rent, feed their children,
and address basic needs. We urge you to write a letter to lobby the federal
government to establish a Federal Anti-Poverty Plan.
Charity is helping people survive right now, but it doesnt address poverty's root
causes. It is time for the Federal Government to step up and take responsibility for
our countrys impoverished people.
