U.S.ArmytoTestParalyzingLightBeamWeapon
The US Army's Aviation Applied
Technology Directorate (AATD) plans to
demonstrate the use of a 7.5 million
candlepower (7.3 million candela) strobe
floodlight system mounted on board an
unmanned air vehicle as a nonlethal
crowdcontrolsystem.
The project will see a Peak Beam
SystemsMaxaBeamsearchlightadapted
tooperateasastrobecapableofinducing
physical effects, such as shortterm
paralysis,inhumans.
AATDplanstoawardcontactstotheEdgemont,PennsylvaniabasedPeakSystemsforthe
modifiedsearchlightinMarch,withdemonstrationswithin12months.
US government acquisition records released on February 9 say the sole source contract
calls for Peak Systems to "design and fabricate a lightbased immobilization
system/deterrentdeviceandintegrateitwithanunmannedaerialsystem.Thiswillinclude
anynecessarymedicalresearchonfrequencyandamplitudemodulationofhighintensity
lightthatwillcauseimmobilizationtoallthosewithinthebeam."
Thesystemusesaxenonbasedsearchlightthat"canbepulsedwithauniquemodulation
[strobe] effect that results in immobilization to those within the beam. This effort will
transitionthelampfromahandheld/vehiclemountedsystemtoanairborneplatform."
In parallel, the US Air Force UAV Battlelab is studying a project to adapt Raytheon's
microwavebased Active Denial System (ADS) to a UAV, also for use in crowd control
and battlefield shaping roles. However, this is dependent upon maturing existing ADS
developmenteffortsbyRaytheonandtheUSAFResearchLaboratory'sDirectedEnergy
(AFRLDE)Battlelab,saysUAVBattlelabdirectorGregPierce.

Speaking at the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International's (AUVSI)

annualUSgovernmentprogramsupdateconferenceearlierthismonth,Piercesaid:"We
don't have any initiatives on this, because to be an initiative it has to have reached
technologyreadinesslevel5.Butwearelookingatdirectedenergycapabilities.Weare
looking at highpower microwave capabilities. We are looking at what I like to call the

For reasons that remain mostly mysterious, the note
wecallBflatdoestheoddestthings.Hereareafew
ofthem.
BFlatsandAlligators
During World War II, the New York Philharmonic
was visiting the American Museum of Natural
History. During rehearsal, somebody played a note
that upset a resident live alligator named Oscar.
Oscar, who'd been in the museum on 81st Street,
suddenly began to bellow. Naturally, with so many
scientists in residence, an experiment was quickly
devised to see how to get Oscar to bellow again.
Variousmusiciansstring,percussiveandbrass
werebroughttoOscartoplayvariousnotes.Itturned
outtheculpritwasBflat,oneoctavebelowmiddleC.
Theexperimentwasdescribedbackinthe1940s.
IrepeatedtheexperimentonanABCNewsbroadcastinthe1990s,playingaBflattoa
collectionofgatorsataroadsideattractioninFloridaandrecordingtheirbellows.

Mr.Fripp,apianotunerbytrade,washumminginBflatwhileclimbingthestairsathis
dad'sofficebuilding,whenhenoticedthathishumhadsomehowescapedhimandwas
hanging,resonatingwithouthim,onthestaircaselanding.Hecouldn'tquiteexplainwhat
washappeningonlythathishum(anditwasdefinitelyhishum,nooneelse's)hadgone
offwithouthim.

GlenwayhasnoideawhyBflathadthisparticularpropertyonthatparticularstaircase.
HesuspectsthatthewallswereporousandmayevencontaincavitiesthatareveryBflat
friendly.That'sallheknows.Butthetruthis,hedoesn'thaveanexplanation.
BFlatandBlackHoles
Thisone'sabitofastretch,buthere'swhathappened.
InSeptember2003,astronomersatNASA'sChandraXRayObservatoryfoundwhatcan
bedescribedassoundwavesemanatingfromasupermassiveblackhole.Theblackhole
canbeseeninthePerseusclusterofgalaxieslocated250millionlightyearsfromEarth.
AndrewFabianoftheInstituteofAstronomyinCambridge,England,analyzedthewaves
andannounced,"Wehavedetectedtheirsound."Thesoundhefound(whichisreally
thewavespassingthroughgasneartheblackhole)translatetothenoteBflat.
But this is not a B flat you or I can hear. It is 57 octaves below middle C. A piano, by
comparison,containsonlysevenoctaves.Soifablackholehums,ithumsatafrequency
amillionbilliontimeslowerthanyoucanhear.
ASonginBFlat
Whileyoumaynotbeabletohearablackholehumming,thisstoryis,toaconsiderable
extent,sung.
Thevocalist(whoisalsothelyricist,andajournalist)isJoshKurzofLosAngeles.His

ThoseDamnedCattleMutilations
Whenwefirstencounterthecattlemutilationphenomenon,itseemsveryhardtodigest
mentally.Atthatpoint,predispositiontakesover:Believersthinkitsaliensdoinggenetic
experiments, Fundamentalist Skeptics counter that its merely predators and scavengers
whobringdownlivestock,draintheirblood,andinsomecasesleavethemoutinbackof
thefarmhouse,merefeetfromsleepingranchers.Bothscenariosseemequallyridiculous.
MostagreethattheKennethArnoldeventformutilationswastheSnippytheHorse
caseofSeptember8th,1967.(ChrisOBrien,authorofTheMysteriousValley,talked

withoneoftheoriginalwitnesses,Harry
King,whoreportedthatthehorsewasin
factnamedSnippy,contrarytopopular
belief that the animals name was
Lady.) King and his mother noted that
Snippyfailedtoreturntoawatertrough
as usual, and two days later found the
animaldeadonasmallmesa.
Flesh had been removed from the head
and neck, there was no blood at the
scene, and King said that there was a
strange medicinal odor in the air. When
Agnes King touched a piece of the carcass, a greenish fluid oozed out, and seemed to
contain some chemical that burned her skin. Residents in the area reported UFOlike
activityintheskiesbeforeandaftertheevent.
In the mid1970s, the problem became so widespread in New Mexico that Senator
HarrisonSchmittconvenedasymposiumattheAlbuquerquePublicLibrary.InAprilof
1979, he invited ranchers, researchers, and law enforcement officials to gather and talk
abouttheproblem,whichhaduptothattimecostthecattleindustryintheneighborhood
of$1million.Fewconclusionswerereached,andoneresearcherfromColoradosaidthat
Theonlysenseofmutilationsisthattheymakenosenseatall.
TheJusticeDepartmentwascalledintoinvestigate,andhiredretiredFBIagentKenneth
Rommel to head Operation Animal Mutilation. His report, running 297 pages, was
releasedin1980.Itconcludedthatthemajorityofthemutilationswereeasilyaccounted
for as natural deaths and predator activity, with a small percentage that could not be
explained adequately with the resources available. Rommel reportedly told researcher
LindaHowethatshewasbarkingupthewrongtreewithheralieninterventiontheory,and
thatthephenomenonwasduesolelytonaturalcauses.
With the exception of one or two reports (one where a rancher claimed to observe two
aliencreaturescarryingadeadcalf,andtheotherreportedbyanabducteeunderhypnosis)
Iknowofnocaseswherealienshavebeenobservedincontactwithlivestock.Ifwethrow
outtheUFOexplanation,thisleavesusfewoptionsavailabletoaccountfortheobserved
anomaliesincattlemutilations.
Howe once told me that the aliens want to make it look like humans are doing this to
covertheirowntracks.Idonotagree,andIwillexplainhowIcametomypresentmodel
of the phenomenon. Some may counter that Howe is a dedicated field researcher and I
have no expertise in this area. They are right. My ideas are based on indepth
conversationswithotherresearcherswhohavemanyyearsofhandsonexperiencewith
livestockmutilations.
RetiredNewMexicoStatePoliceOfficerGabeValdezwasinvolvedintheinvestigation
ofmutilationsfromthegroundfloor.Hewasthefirstofficialonthesceneincountless
incidents in the Dulce area from the late 1970s to the late 80s. He has showed me
firsthand evidence collected in the field, including something resembling radar chaff
whichwasspreadaroundafieldatamutilationscenesomeofthepieceswereactually
stuffedintheanimalsmouth.Healsofoundagasmaskandsurgicalinstrumentsatother
sites. In 2000, Valdez was hired by the National Institute For Discovery Science to
contributetoitsreportonthephenomenon.Heconcludedthatthecattlemaybepartofa
covert experiment to track diseases in livestock. Independent researcher Ted Oliphant,

whospentafewyearsinlawenforcementinanothermutilationhotspotFyffe,Alabama
came to basically the same conclusion after years of study. Chris OBrien, while not
weddedtothetheory,remarksthatitwouldaccountformuchoftheobservedevidence
duringhisyearsinsouthernColorado.
Under this theory, the proximity of UFO sightings to mutilation outbreaks may be an
attemptbywhateverhumanagenciesareinvolvedtocapitalizeonthealienconnection.It
mayalsobetheresultofexperimentalorsecretaircraftusedintheoperations.Researcher
PeterJordanconcludedasmuchinaremoteviewingstudyheconductedinthelate1970s
whereamajorityofhissensitivesperceivednotaliencraft,butlighthelicoptersunloaded
from trucks and personnel in hazmat suits. Photographs were given to the viewers in
sealedenvelopes.
Admittedly, this last example is too much for some to bear, but the possibility of a
pathogen which was released accidentally sometime in the mid1970s by agencies
unknown,andattemptstostudyandcontrolitbeforethefactbecomespublicseemstofit
the evidence just as well or better than some kind of alien agenda. Diseases such as
BovineSpongiformEncephelopathy(ormadcow)andCruzfeltJakobwhichaffectnot
only domestic animals, but wildlife and humans as well is almost too frightening to
consider,especiallyifthediseasewasabiowarfareexperimentgoneawry.
Admittedly,thistheorydoesnotaccountforallanomaliesobservedinmutilations,butit
does explain many of them, and provides an excellent model for motives. Like many
theories on anomalous subjects, the case is not airtight. Mysterious cases of missing
organswithnovisibleincisionstoremovethemisoneexamplethatcomestomind.Ifthe
phenomenonisUFOrelatedthough,itseemstomakelittlesense.Hyperintelligentaliens
should not require hundreds of tries to get information on bovine physiology. Humans
would need this database, and the pubic outcry if the study were made public before a
curewasfoundwouldbedisastrous.
CouldCattleMutilationsBeLinkedtoAtomicBombTests?
Thereexiststhepossibilitythatcattlemutilationscouldbetheresultofclandestinestudies
ontheeffectsofradioactivefalloutthroughouttheUnitedStates.Consideringthatcattle
normallygrazeongrasslandsandingestradioactivematerialdriftingtothegroundafter
nuclear tests. It is not so far fetched that government agencies, with the help of the
militarycouldsecretlychartfalloutpatternsbyharvestingrandomlyselectedcattle.
You'veheardofournewenthusiasmfornuclearweapons:theAdministration'spursuitof
mininukes, its hit list of targets from Baghdad to Beijing and its talk of periodically
detonatingafewbywayof"testing."
You've probably heard less about a study by the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention , completed in August 2001, but only published in dribs and drabs over the
pastfewweeks.MandatedbyCongress,thestudyisthefirstevertoestimatewhateffect
radioactivefalloutfromnucleartestinghashadonthelowerfortyeightAmericanstates.
TheCDCfindssuchfallouthaslikelykilled11,000Americanssincethe1950s.Theydied
fromallmannerofcancers,frommelanomatobreastcancertoleukemia.Fallouthasalso
caused about 22,000 nonlethal cases of cancer. For those keeping score, that's 33,000
casesofcanceramongAmericans,courtesyofglobalnucleartesting.
And it's not just Nevada anymore: The study's maps suggest the definition of
"downwinder" someone living uncomfortably close to a nuclear test site needs

revision.Falloutspreadssurprisinglyfarandwide,withhighconcentrationsinplaceslike
IdahoandMontana.
"HotspotsduetotestinginNevadaoccurredasfarawayasNewYorkandMaine,"says
Arjun Makhijani, president of the Institute for Energy and Environmental Research
(IEER), a Marylandbased think tank that has conducted its own analysis of the CDC's
data.
"HotspotsfromUSPacificareatestingandalsoSoviettestingwerescatteredacrossthe
UnitedStatesfromCalifornia,OregonandWashingtonintheWesttoNewHampshire,
VermontandNorthCarolinaintheEast."
Alittleperspective:Falloutcancersrepresentonlyatinyfractionofallcasesofcancer.
TheCDCnotes,forexample,thatamongthe3.8millionpeoplebornintheUSin1951,
about760,000wouldnormallybeexpectedtodieofcancer,whilefalloutexposureadds
onlyanadditional1,000deathstothattotal.
But even so, it's a helluva price tag for testing the bomb: Eleven thousand dead
Americans.ThirtythreethousandAmericancancers.
That price tag is a subtext in today's nuclear debates. Take Yucca Mountain: The
DepartmentofEnergysaysitwillbesafeforNevadanstostorethenation'snuclearwaste
there. But Robert Loux, executive director of the state's Agency for Nuclear Projects,
says, "There's huge distrust of DOE here." During nuclear testing, he says, "They
promised us it was all perfectly safe too even as DOE officials moved their own
familiesoutoftown[ontestdays]."
Yes,thatwasthenandthisisnow.Butdismissingtheuglysidesofthistaleasrelicsofthe
coldwarbegsaquestion:WhywereforerunnersoftheCDCstudysquelchedaslateas
the mid1990s? Robert Alvarez, a Clintonera Energy Department official, recalled
hearingin1997ofa"suppressed"studyoffalloutbytheNationalCancerInstitute,and
asked for a briefing. "They were showing me these colorcoded [fallout] maps of the
UnitedStates.AndI'mlookingatthisandit'sreallygrotesquestuff,becauseIknowwhat
the numbers mean," Alvarez says. "And I look down at the bottom of the page and it's
datedSeptember1992,andhereIamin1997."
ThatNCIstudylookedatonekindofcancerthatafflictingthethyroidandconcluded
thatnucleartestfalloutcausedsomewherebetween11,300and212,000incidencesofthe
diseaseamongAmericans.Afteritwasfinallypublishedin1997,Congressdemandeda
CDCfollowup.
A report to Congress on the CDC followup emphasizes its conservative approach. The
study has a large margin of errorthe mathematically modeled cancer tolls are more
illustrative than definitive and it is only now being peerreviewed by the National
AcademyofSciences.
Caveatsaside,theestimateof33,000casesofcancerseemsrestrainedifonlybecauseit
covers fallout generated over just eleven years, between 1951 and 1962, and sprinkled
acrossthefortyeightcontiguousUSstates.AstheIEERnotes,thatomits:
*allChineseatmospherictests,whichwereconductedfrom1964to1980
*Frenchatmospherictestsfrom1963to1974

*pre1951testsintheMarshallIslandsandintheSovietUnion
*theoriginalthree1945atomicblastsinNewMexico,HiroshimaandNagasaki.
The11,000Americanskilledbyanelevenyearrunofnucleartestingrepresentafraction
ofalargerstoryacoldwarepicthatspansfivedecadesanddozensofnations.
Nuclear powers "owe the world a real accounting of what they did to its health," says
Makhijani."ItishightimefortheUnitedNationstocreateaGlobalTruthCommission
that would examinein detail comparable to the US government studies the harm that
has been inflicted upon the people of the world by nuclear weapons production and
testing."
Until that Truth Commission convenes however, the CDC's study is sobering enough.
Alvarez says that any one of more than a dozen atmospheric tests in that elevenyear
periodreleasedChernobylscaleradiationlevels."Therewereatleastnineteenshotsinthe
ballparkoftheChernobylaccident,"hesaid."We'retalkingaboutlevels[ofradioactivity]
solargeduringthatperiodthatiftoday'sexistingsafetystandardstoprotectthepublichad
been applied, large portions of the nation's milk supply would have had to have been
withdrawnonnumerousoccasions."MakhijaniofIEERaddsthatsomeUSfarmchildren
who drank milk after the hottest atmospheric blasts were as severely exposed as "the
worstexposedchildren"ofChernobyl.
Reasonablepeoplecouldargue,iftheyweresoinclined,overwhether11,000peoplein
America killed by eleven years of nuclear testing is "a lot." But whether one sees it as
horrifyingorasmerelyafewthousandeggsbrokenforourcoldwaromelettes,thelink
betweenfalloutandcancerisarealityoddlyabsentfromdiscussionsofbustingbunkers
underBaghdadorToraBora.
Ifsomeonewouldtakethetimetochartwherecattlemutilationstendtobeconcentrated,I

thattwoFrenchmenachievedlighterthanairflightwhentheywereliftedintotheairina
hot air balloon near Paris. Then powered, heavierthanair flight became the goal. And
although it was theorized that heavierthanair flight was possible as early as the 13th
century,andinthe16thcenturyLeonardodaVincidesignedwingedaircraftandacrude
kindofhelicopter,itwasn'tuntiltheWrightbrothersmadetheirfirstsuccessfulflightsat
KittyHawkin1903thatpoweredflightbecameareality.

That's the widely accepted history. Some

researchersandafewroguescientistsbelieve
there's evidence to suggest that humans
achieved flight earlier in history much
earlier...soearly,theysay,thattheknowledge
of this technology has been lost and ancient
stories that recount adventures of human
flighthavebeenrelegatedonlytomyth.
Is it possible that humans developed the
technologytoflyinearlycivilizationsorin
civilizationsthatarenowlosttohistory?Let's
take a look at what some call the evidence
intriguing artifacts, carvings, inscriptions and
legendsthattheysaypointtothetruerecord
humanofflight.
TheEgyptianAirplane
In1898,apeculiarsixinchwoodenobjectwasfoundinatombatSaqquara,Egyptthat
datedbacktoabout200BCE.Theobjecthadabodyorfuselage,seveninchwingsthat
curveddownwardslightly, a fixed rudder and a tail. It looked very much likeamodern
airplane or glider. But since airplanes had not yet been invented in 1898 (never mind
ancientEgypt),itwaslabeledasamodelofbirdandstoredawayinthebasementofthe
Cairomuseum.
The object was rediscovered many years later by Dr. Khalil Messiha, an authority on
ancient models. According to Messiha and others who have studied the object, it has
characteristics of very advanced aerodynamics, much like modern pushergliders that
require very little power to stay aloft. The curved wings are today known as
reversedihedral wings, which can attain great amounts of lift. A similar design is
employedonthesupersonicConcordeaircraft.
Wasthisjustachild'stoy?OrwasitascalemodelofanaircrafttheEgyptiansplannedto
build...ordidbuild.Iftheydidbuildafullscaleversionoftheaircraft,noevidenceexists
forit.Nofullsizeairplaneshavebeenfoundinanypharaoh'stombtoflyhimtotheland
ofthedead.
TheCarvingsatAbydos
Although no airplanes or airplane parts have ever been found from the ruins of ancient
Egypt,istherecorroboratingevidencethattheyconstructedaircraft?
Evenmorecontroversialthanthemodelairplanearetheenigmaticcarvingsfoundinthe
templeofAbydos,EgyptbyDr.RuthHover.Hoverphotographedawallpanelwhichhad
been revealed when a newer overlaying panel crumbled and fell off. The older panel
beneathcontainedembossedimagesthatresemblemodernaircraftasseeninprofile.
Onebearsastrikingresemblancetoamodernhelicopter,whileotherscouldbeinterpreted
as aircraft, hovercraft or even flying saucers. When the photos of these carvings first
surfaced,itwasassumedthattheyhadbeendigitallyalteredtocreateasensationalhoax.
Andindeedsomeofthemhadbeenretouchedtomoreclearlyshowaircraftlikefeatures.

Butevenunalteredphotosseemedtoshowtheverymodernlookingfigures.
Perhaps looks are deceiving, however. The official take from archaeologists is that the
strange carvings are palimpsests the result of two or more overlapping carvings that
combinetolooklikesomethingelse.The"aircraft,"theysay,aremerelycombinationsof
overlappinghieroglyphics.
CentralandSouthAmericanShuttle
Egypt's isn't the only ancient civilization that has produced puzzling artifacts. A
remarkable gold trinket estimated to be at least 1,000 years old dating perhaps to
between 500 and 800 AD was found in Central America and along coastal areas of
South America. If you weren't aware of its age, you might guess that it was a child's
modeloftheSpaceShuttleoradeltawingfighteraircraft.
Whentheartifactwasdiscovered,archaeologistscalleditazoomorph,oranimalshaped
object.Itresemblesnoknownflyinganimal,however.Itlooksdistinctlymechanicalwith
itsdeltashapedwings,stabilizerfinsandrudder.Itevenhaswhatlookslikeapilot'sseat
intherightplace.Expertsinaerodynamics,however,contendthatthewingsaretoofar
backfortheobject'scenterofgravity,andthatthenoseisnotaerodynamicallysound.
Whatever this object is supposed to be or represent, its remarkable resemblance to a
modernaircraftorspacecraftisuncanny.
NazcaAReasontoFly?
Spreadovera37by15mileplateaunearNazca,Peruarehugeworksofart"drawn"on
thegroundbypeopleoftheParacasandNascacultures.Thefigures,calledgeoglyphs,are
stylizedportraitsofa18differentkindsofbirds,acurlytailedmonkeyasbigasafootball
field,akillerwhale,a150footspider,alizard,humanformsandotherstrangeobjects.
Although the civilizations that created the figures flourished between 200 BC and 600
AD,nooneknows for certain when the geoglyphs were made... or why. Butsincethey
were discovered, archaeologists have wondered by these people would create such
monumentalworksofartthatcouldnotbeappreciatedfromtheground.Thefigurescan
onlybedistinguishedwhenviewedfromagreatheight.Infact,theywerediscoveredin
recent times only when an explorer noticed them when flying over them in an airplane.
Since there are no nearby mountains or other elevated areas nearby from which to look
downontheNazcalines,howweretheyeverseen?
Because of Nazca's large grids of crisscrossing paths, that seem to go nowhere (some
extendingaslongassixmiles),authorssuchasErichVonDanikenhavesuggested(with
only this as "evidence") that Nazca is a ancient spaceport. The paths, he contends, are
runwaysforaircraft,andthattheirpilotsandpassengerswerethoseprivilegedtoviewthe
largescalefigures.
Less sensationalistic is the suggestion that this ancient civilization constructed hotair
balloonsinwhichtotakepassengersalofttoviewthesymbols.In1974,JulianNottand
JimWoodmantestedthistheorybybuildingaballoonmadeofmaterialsavailabletothe
Nazcanatives.Theyconstructedagondolaoftotorareedsandstitchedtogethersheetsof
cotton cloth that they filled with the hot air from wood smoke. Their balloon, dubbed
CondorI,quicklyrosetoover300feet,provingthatitwasatleastpossiblefortheSouth
American natives of this region to have achieved lighterthanair flight long before
Europeansdid.

TheVaimanikasastra
Although the Chinese are credited with inventing rocketry, some people believe that an
ancient text from India describes sophisticated air flight by human pilots. Written by
MaharishiBharadwajainthe4thcenturyBC(allegedlydictatedwhilehewasinatrance),
theVaimanikasastraseemstotalkaboutpilotingsomekindofaircraftavimanawith
someastonishingcapabilities.
Soundinglikeamanualforaerialbattle(orinstructionstoavideogame),thetextclaims
toreveal32secretsofpilotingavimana,including:
*Goodhapermitsthepilottomakehisvimanainvisibletohisenemies.
*Parokshaenablesthepilottoparalyzeothervimanasandputthemoutofaction.
*Pralayapushesanelectricalforcethroughthe"fivelimbedaerialtube"sothatthe
pilotmay"destroyeverythingasinacataclysm."
*Taaraprovidesthepilotwithanothermeansofavoidingcontactwithanenemyor
hiding from observers: "By mixing with ethereal force 10 parts of air force, 7 parts of
waterforce,and16partsofsolarglow,andprojectingitbymeansofthestarfacedmirror
throughthefrontaltubeofthevimana,theappearanceofastarspangledskyiscreated."
*Jaladaroopainstructsthepilotinthecorrectproportionsofcertainchemicalswhich
willenvelopthevimanaandgiveit"theappearanceofacloud."

aspects of personality were determined

Closeup pictures were taken of the study participants' irises, and they also filled out a
questionnaireabouttheirpersonalities.
Theresearcherslookedatcrypts(pits)andcontractionfurrows(linescurvingaroundthe

outeredgeoftheiris),whichareformedwhenpupilsdilate.
It was found that those with more crypts were likely to be tender, warm and trusting,
whilethosewithmorefurrowsweremorelikelytobeneurotic,impulsiveandgiveinto
cravings.
The researchers suggest that a neurodevelopmental gene called PAX6 could also play a
majorrole.Itisknowntohelpcontrolthedevelopmentoftheirisinanembryo.
PreviousresearchhasalsoshownthatamutationofPAX6islinkedtoimpulsivenessand
poorsocialskills.
Theteam,ledbyDrMattLarssonabehaviouralscientist,said:"Thesefindingssupport
the notion that people with different iris configurations tend to develop along different
trajectoriesinregardstopersonality.
"Differences in the iris can be used as a biomarker that reflects differences between
people."
Dr George Fieldman, principal lecturer in psychology at Buckinghamshire Chilterns
University College, said: "This is very interesting. It shows that some aspects of
personalityhaveageneticbaseandtoidentifythemintheeyeinthisfascinatingwayis
significant.
"Itissurprisingthatthisispossible.Butitseemsthattheoldaphorismthat'theeyesare
thewindowtothesoul'hassomegeneticbasis."
Hesaiditopenedupthepossibilitythatsecurityservicescouldonedayusethetechnique
