ABSTRACT
Essential oils are volatile mixtures of terpenes from plants. These products
possess insect repellent and insecticide. One of the most economically important
insects is the Tribolium castaneum Herbst. In order to evaluate the activity of
essential oils from Cymbopogon citratus plants in Colombia and (GRbgV02E),
Lippia origanoides (VEbgV07E) and Eucalyptus citriodora (MYbgV01E) repellency
tests were performed and mortality. To this end, the method was used to reference
area to assess the repellent activity, the CR50 for oils was 0.00021 (0.000970.0004) for Cymbopogon citratus (GRbgV02E). The insecticidal activity was carried
out using filter paper impregnated with solutions of AE, the mortality rates show
that mortality caused at least 50% of the insects during the first 24 hours of
exposure. The results showed that AE have good repellent and insecticidal
properties for biological control of insects.

INTRODUCCIN

foetidum), romero (Rosmarinus officinalis), naranja (Citrus cinensis), hierba limn
(Cymbopogon citratus), y tarragn mexicano o pericn (Tagetes lucida), siendo
