Hero for a lifetime

A multi-talented person, joker friend, second parent, teacher a hero.
Who else can defeat them? They can do such all things. They explore every
means within their purview to make us feel comfortable and encourage us to
learn. They comforted us when were in distressed situation. You cant stop
them when they want to do something. They just do it. They work tirelessly
to develop the talents of generations of children but on the day of October 5
every year, they finally got their own chance to shine in the spotlight.
Celebrating Teachers day in the slogan of Empowering Teachers, Building
sustainable societies Meaning that it is recognized are not only a means to
implementing education goals, they are the key to sustainability and national
capacity in achieving learning and creating societies based on knowledge,
values and ethics.
At St. Josephs High School, the Supreme Student Government Officers
and with the help of the class presidents, they prepared a presentation for the
teachers on their day. Each section gave a speech, sing and dance number
etc. just to show them how special they are and to say thank you for the
knowledge that they will never forget. A knowledge that can help in their
future and to be the best of they want to be. While the program continues,
the teachers cant hide their feelings because of their smiles that shows how
happy they are. The program ended with the message of Principal Ms. Ma.
Luisa Fontanilla, While the staffs and faculty members were very happy on
their special day.
Education is the key to success in life and teachers make a lasting
impact in the lives of their student Without teachers, There is no
professionals these days. To give honor to all teachers and to say thank you
for them is not enough. Teacher is a living hero.

Who I am

By: Ayessa Galang

There are many people who are living in this world and everyone has different
personalities. Everyone in the world is unique in their own ways.
I am an individual. I am my own person; a person who makes mistakes, laughs,
cries, hurts, smiles and love. I am who I am through my joys, sorrows, heartbreaks,
happiness and my loses. Each step in my life and each moments go by makes me up as an
individual person. Every experience in my life good or bad, happy or sad makes me
stronger. Each passing moment in a new life experience for me and makes me grow into
the person I want to be. Day by day, hour by hour I take a new step in my life, a step
towards another, into a world full of knowledge. Knowledge is all around me waiting for
me to learn new things and process new information that will teach me through life. I am
a student throughout life, not just in the classroom.
Being down or depressed comes with everyones character at some point. When I
come across this point in life, it is one of my weak situations. When something happens
that hurt my feeling or makes me angry the outcome is always sadness. I let emotions out
but crying or keeping quiet to myself. Depending on what the situation is the cause of my
anger and hurt stays on my mind for a long period of time. Also, If somebody puts me
down with comments or actions, I try to ignore it but inside I know I am better than
words or action and prove it by letting go.
I am a person who makes mistakes, but the courtesy to learn from them and not
make them twice. I am a person who laughs so hard that I have tears running down my
cheeks. I am an emotional person who cries whenever I need to and is not embarrassed to
express myself that way. I express whatever I am feeling so I dont have to hold it inside
until I explode. I am that person who tries to light up my room with a smile. I am that
person who tries to pick up when youre down, laugh when you want to cry and is there if
you want to talk. I have a great shoulder for people to lean on and see myself as an
excellent friend. I am a good listener and will give good advice because I tell people the
truth not just what they want to hear.
I know that sometimes they dont like or understand what attitude I have. But all I
say is I AM REAL

One Succesful Person

By: Ayessa Galang

It is rightly said nothing succeeds like success. Success is not a stable in ones life. It
is the rarest gift of God and the hardest achievement of a man or woman.
One of the examples is our very own kababayan and a Josephian. Judge Nancy
Maxino Galvez with her hard work and determination. She became a lawyer and the
youngest Judge in the 3rd district of Quezon.
It is my pleasure to have an interview with her. I started to ask her to tell a short
story why she became successful in her career. She said Siguro dahil masipag lang
talaga ako mag-aral simula pa noong bata pa ako. I always want to be on top to make my
parents proud. Im thankful also that my parents are strict because I walk to the right
way of life. Although there are times that I cried at night during my high school lifeme
when my parents didnt permit to go picnic with my friends or make gimmicks. Bahay,
School, aral lang talaga ako. When I was in college my parents send me in Manila. There
is a little bit freedom already but I know my limitation. I study very hard because I have
to maintain my scholarship in U.E. I go out with friends sometimes but it is clean fun no
to alcohol and drugs of course.
I asked her again about her tips and secrets on how to became successful. Few lines
were given My parents are my inspiration and most important I pray and ask for
guidance and blessings from God. You have to work hard to reach your dream 1% and
99% perspiration. And she said also that we should always remember this In
everything you do put God first and he will crown your efforts with success.
I ask her again when she considered herself as a success. She replied me that the
starting point of her success is when she passed the Bar Exam.
During her worst she pushed herself to move on a new in order to redeem herself she
also pray hard for courage and acceptance.
My last question with her is what keeps her awake at night. She answered, When I
have a problem and Im thinking for the best solution and also when Im hurt and feeling
broken.
Thats how we end our conversation. So we should try to learn from her and with our
willingness, determination, patience in our life as Success comes to those who will and
dare.

Buwan Ng Wika

Wika ang pinakamahalagang sangkap ng anumang mabisang
pakikipagtalastasan at komunikasyon.

P.E. Leaders Association Training

Last September 4-5 some of the well-picked students have been choose

to be a P.E. Leader and to attend the P.E. Leadership Training. We have been
trained by some police of the PNP. On the very first day of our training
weve already known the true meaning of being a leader, and that being a
leader is a heavy word with a heavy responsibility and weve been taught
how to command and shout Manatili and Walang Kilos with our full
voice.
On the next day, we have been told to wake-up early and on that early
moment we have been taught how to march properly and weve been also
taught what leaders should do and shouldnt do. There are many things that
we have learned from this P.E. Leader Training and those memories and
lessons shall always be with us in every steps of our lives.

CHRISTMAS PARTY
We celebrated our Christmas Party last December 17, 2015. At first, I
was so nervous because I cant imagine how does it feel like to have a
Christmas Party in SJHS. Before the party, we had a Adopt-a-Family first

with the class officers, SSG Officers and advisers together with some
families we invited to join us. We gave them a lot of goods and make them
eat with us. We felt so overwhelming because we helped somebody. After
that, we just rest for a while and then prepared for our own Christmas
parties, it was fun and exciting because each section have their own
programs prepared. We heard a lot of music and also we shared our food to
everyone. It was a lot of fun and so exciting but I didnt expect that it will
be more fun because we had a get together Christmas Party with all the
students in SJHS. It was like my most memorable Christmas Party cause
its one of a kind party.

Kaarawan ng Aking Bayang Sinilangan

By: eden calapit
May
magagandang beach resorts at ilang pook-pasyalan at syempre mayroon ding

By: Daphane Aureada

kinabukasan.

WHAT I HAVE LEARNED FROM OUR RETREAT

When I was a little kid back then, I dont really know what

recollection or retreat means, I thought that it was just a party or a get

together but when I entered high school, I have learned that it is an activity
in connected with ourselves, with other people and specially with God.
Last January 21-23, 2016, our grade level had our first retreat at MCST
compound Tayabas, Quezon. We spent a 3 day and 2 nights there with our
advisers and retreat masters. But before we went to Tayabas, we stop first at
Kamay Ni Hesus Shrine in Lucban, Quezon to ate our lunch, visit the shrine
and of course to pray. After that, we already went to the compound. We
registered first, had our meriendas, and rest for a while in our dorms. After a
little break, our first session began, Sr. Roleth, Sr. Luzviminda, Sr. Corrine
and Sr. Carine, facilitates us in the whole session. In each session, they gave
us various topics which really help us to ease our feelings and enlightened
our mind, some of which are The Cycle of Life, Communicating with
Others, Knowing Yourself and such. In these topics I can really say that I,
together with my batchmates learned so many things. I have learned that in
order to be happy, contented and successful, we must put GOD FIRST
before ourselves/others.Ive also learned that in our life rejection or being
rejected is one of the things that we cannot avoid but in order to surpass it,
affirmation from the people around us is what we need. There are some
things that also bugged my mind before and during that retreat but after that
3 days retreat, that 3 days date with God, I have felt so relieve. I feel like
God really enter in me and took away some of my bringing in life.

BECAUSE OF YOU
In our life, there is a certain person whom we really treat special, whom
we considered as one of the reason why were glad or upset. And that person

sometimes were the reason why our life changes either its for the better or
for worse.
BECAUSE OF YOU, maybe someday this is one of the phrase that Ill say
to you when we meet again in the future, when we talk again and when Im
in your arms again. Because of you I have felt so special, that I am important
and a priceless one. There is no time that you made me feel that I am a
nobody, that I am worthless nor nothing to care of. You treated me as a rose,
you did your best for me, for us. You even treated me like a princess and
that is the reason why I really miss you so much. I did not feel that Im alone
because of you. Youre the reason why Im still tough behind all my
struggles in life. Time really flies so fast, years ago we were still together,
youre always there when I am down, when I have problems. Youre my
companion in all the things, in success or in pain; in cloud 9 or in hell of life,
you never leave me, you never let me feel that Im alone Until now, I still
feel your presence, your care and your love for me and thats the things that
will never change, I still an I will still remember all of that, all the memories
you gave and such. Youre one of the reason behind all my success. All my
certificates, ribbons, medals, trophies and awards that I had and will receive,
I offer it to you, to Papa, and to my siblings, because all of you are really the
reasons why I got those kind of honors. Even though youre in a far far away
land, Ill still treasure you and all the things/people connected to you cause
youre really special to me, youre the reason why I am here and youre the
reason why I am me and because of you, I can proudly say to my friends or
even shout to the whole world that I had and still have the BEST MOTHER
a daughter could ask for.

CONFIDENTLY BEAUTIFUL WITH A HEART

BY: Neka Cortez

The confidently beautiful with a heart, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach finally

brought back the Miss Universe crown after a 42-year drought for the
Philippines last December 21,2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada USA.
A Filipino-German actress, model and beauty pageant title holder, was
born in Stuttgart, Germany to a German father and Filipino mother. She
claims Cagayan de Oro City in the Philippines where she grew up, as her
home.
The road to Miss Universe crown was not an easy journey for Miss
Pia. It took her three times to finally win the title Binibining Pilipinas. Even
in the Miss Universe pageant night when the host Steve Harvey mistakenly
announced the winner as Miss Colombia. As the reigning Miss Universe, a
year-long salary as Miss Universe as well as luxury accommodations in New
York City apartment for the duration of her reign. She had a Heroines
Welcome, her first time to come home as Queen Pia, Queen P. as they
call her, in the Philippines. She arrived for her home coming press
conference and parade last January 24,2016.

THUMBS UP
My beloved hometown San Narciso, Quezon hosted the 3rd
Congressional Meet which participated by the 12 neighboring towns
consisting the Bondoc Peninsula area at the San Narciso Central School
Quadrangle, last November 4-6,2015. Vibrant and dynamic coaches and
athletes with the spectators of the districts gathered on the site witnessing
this event.
The SJHS Drum and Lyre Band which I belong as lead majorette was
tasked to render an opening presentation. In preparation we went a 3-month
band training from July to October, 2015. Its a wonderful experience
because we can show our talents, it develops our self-disciple and most
important I was happy socializing with other members. During the
execution, I was in shinering sensation with a sudden sharp feeling of
excitement. Our training was compensated upon seeing the warm applause
of approval and satisfaction from the audience. There was a multiple
cheerful faces that made me relaxed and assured enough to continuously
danced energetically.
From this event that I experienced, I gained additional self-trust
because for every struggle has shaped me into the person I am today. As a

student and teenager, adores by my parents and relatives, it is their love that
has been my inspiration and moral booster.
