Best practices: (IPad-project)

We have done three different projects by using iPads. Pupils were from two
different classes 3B and 5C and all of the tasks were completed last spring.
Comics: We started by creating storyline and we used Simplemind+ program for
that task. Pupils from different classes and age groups worked as pairs and they
were given instructions what should be included when they made mind map
(main characters, places, plot elements etc.).

After they had finished planning we used Pic2comic-program to get some real
photos. It is a program that can be used for creating strips, by using preset
filters. Photos can also be given a comic-like appearance and program also
allows some photo editing.

Website: digitalschoolseurope.eu

Dublin West Education Centre

After that those pictures were opened by using Stripdesigner, a program that is
better suited for compiling comics and it also has wide variety of options how to
add elements to photos like preset pictures, text or hand drawn sketches.

Website: digitalschoolseurope.eu

Dublin West Education Centre

We have a limited amount of iPads, and transferring comics or any work out of
iPad requires pupils to login at Microsoft services, and if tablets are used by
different people one needs to know how to remove login information (that iPad
automatically saves even if user logs out of the service). We also had to teach
how to remove passwords after we had used OneNote for publishing comics.
Music video:

Website: digitalschoolseurope.eu

Dublin West Education Centre

We have done several different types of videos, for example, older pupils made
videos about age limits. They were published in the national magazine Helsingin
Sanomat http://www.hs.fi/kotimaa/a1424065625211. Last spring we made music
videos and we started by composing songs by using GarageBand and at the
same time pupils wrote lyrics at KidBlog.

Website: digitalschoolseurope.eu

Dublin West Education Centre

Pupils watched a couple of music videos as examples, and requirement for a

video was that it should support lyrics and tell the story that had been written.
IMovie was used for shooting the music video. Pupils worked as pairs and were
both from different classes, 3rd and 5th. After they had written lyrics they started
planning the video. Due to time limits we skipped commenting lyrics part and
also because pupils worked at different phases, it would have caused
unnecessary arrangements getting all into the same place, while some were
shooting film and others were composing their song.

Materials: In this year I have been

using OneNote Classroom program with
my students. I like it, because it`s so
diverse learning environment. You can
make your own environments to all
subjects.
Methods: First, of course, we learned
how to use OneNote Classroom.
Previous years we have been using
other Office365 programs, so it helped
a lot. The pupils knew how to use Word
and PowerPoint, so OneNote Classroom
was not so hard. The best way to learn
something new, is to do it again and
again. We have been using OneNote
Classroom mainly in Finnish language
and literature; writing stories. We also
made presentations in Biology.
Instructions were given how to add
pictures and references; pupils also
wrote instructional summaries of
different sports activities.
Goals: Learn different subjects by
using ICT skills.
Assessment: Teacher assessment. It is
easy for the teacher to know what the
students have been doing, because in
OneNote Classroom you can see
everything on students pages and
outputs. Students made a presentation
and it was evaluated by peers. The
main focus was on content and how
the presentation was planned.
Students didnt give written feedback
and all evaluation was done orally. In
OneNote Classroom pupils can`t see
each others work.

How is ICT being used creatively?

We should be learning different

What use is being made of eTwinning?

Pupil involvement and mobility

Students really like to use OneNote

Classroom and say it`s easy to use.
Students commented on final
presentation and not during the
process due limitations that Onenote

When we started to use Classroom,
students had to show parents their
