Describe how best to teach a communicative class.


Today, English is a global language helping connect the process of cooperation and
development, so the learning demand has been increasing in many countries. There are a
lot of skills in English including speaking. It plays an important role in transferring and
exchanging ideas in daily communication and in the international conferences between
global leaders to share ideas and negotiations. The requirement of teaching speaking must
be carefully investigated to activate the effective lessons quality.
In a communicative class, the students need to be provided with the essential skills
to conduct speaking. Firstly, the vocabulary is essential for students to identify the objects
and events around the lessons topic. This section can be carried out with the different
types of exercise, such as filling in the blanks of sentences or paragraph, matching the
words with their definitions with the aims of developing the understanding of the
meaning and strengthening the intensive insight into the use of vocabulary in different
situations. Secondly, the listening skill is basic need for students to be familiar with the
pronunciations and intonation of native speakers. The more they listen, the more they can
keep pace with English words or ideas. When listening to a piece of news or
conversation, they have chance to repeat the lyrics and practice pronunciations accurately.
The vocabulary and listening skill help students be aware of the native speakers sounds
and intonation to apply into shaping the thinking to communicate better.
The communicative class allows the teacher to organize different practice
activities for students. The speaking practice can be conducted in the questions and
answers session. The teacher poses some questions relating to the lessons topic and
provide some tips for students to give the answers. The students are comfortable to do
this task with their partners turn by turn. The next activity for speaking practice in the
class is presentation. As soon as the students learn about the concrete characteristics of
lessons topic, the teacher should let them work in groups to do small projects. These
ones relate to what they have learned. What the students have to do is that they perform
the content by drawing and coloring features on a big paper. Then, the graphics are
displayed on the board and the students will do the presentations with their groups in
front of the class.
In conclusion, the communicative class facilitates the operations of the teacher and
the students. Listening, vocabulary, pronunciation, and speaking are the essential skills
for learners to acquire prior to approaching the real speaking situations. The teacher
instructs the lesson and make the students more confident to talk more. The practice
promotes the efficiency of communication in the students because the students have
many opportunities to work with their partners in the class.
