Academic Planner and GPA Calculator

The Academic Planner and GPA Calculator is designed to aid in plotting your course for your academic
and tracking your progress toward your goal of graduation. You can use this tool to plan courses for y
and major. You can add courses for a minor if you decide you want to pursue one.

Beginning in the Summer of 2014, minus grades (A-, B-, etc.) were added to the Undergraduate Gradi
Structure. For calulating GPA prior to the 2014 grading policy, select the tab titled "GPA Calculator." F
calculating GPA starting in Summer 2014, select the tab titled "GPA Calculator after Spring '14." If you
grades from both grading systems, complete the appropriate terms on each of the GPA Calculator she
select the "Composite GPA" tab to see your composite GPA.
DIRECTIONS FOR COMPLETING EITHER OF THE GPA CALCULATION SHEETS:
To ensure you have a copy, be sure to save the file to your computer.
- Select a term (Fall, Spring, or Summer) from the drop-down menu
- Enter the year for that term
- Fill in the Course prefix (PHY, CHE, etc.) and number (1305, 3304, etc.)
- Fill in the number of credit hours for that course (This is the second digit of the course number).
- Enter the grade you received or plan on receiving for the course.
- Enter an "X under Transfer if credit was received from an exam (AP, SAT II, CLEP, etc.) or was taken
another college.
- If the course is a required course for your major, place an X under the Major column
- If this course has been repeated and replaced later, place a X under the column labeled Replaced.

NOTE: Courses with grades of I, W, P, FA, CR, NC, or AU are not calculated into the GPA. On these co
will not see a value in the points column of the calculation sheet.
DEFINITIONS:
Term GPA This is the GPA for the specific term and includes all grades.

Baylor GPA This is the GPA for the specified term. Any courses replaced in a later semester are not i
this calculation.

Major GPA This is the calculated GPA for courses indicated as required for the major in accordance w
appropriate Undergraduate Catalog. The GPA does not include courses that were replaced.
Overall GPA This is the cumulative GPA for all terms and includes all grades. If a course has been re
grades are counted and calculated.

BCMP GPA - This is the GPA for all Biology, Chemistry, Math, and Physics courses. This calculation is im
you are a premedicine student. The calculation includes all grades.

Cumulative Baylor/Major GPA These are the overall GPA for either the indicated Major courses or ove
GPA with the replaced grades not included in the GPA.
